As the Lead Delivery Manager, you will be an experienced professional who can lead a team of other delivery manager practitioners. There are currently four MaPS delivery managers, assigned to continuous improvement and project work in cross functional teams, who will report to you.
The Lead Delivery Manager will own the community of practice for the discipline at MaPS which also includes 3rd party colleagues. You will support professional development and continuous improvement of your community.
The Lead Delivery Manager will collaborate closely with peers in Technology, Change, Product, Engineering and User-Centred Design Teams to achieve our delivery goals and improve performance. You will also support in developing the digital maturity of the organisation.
You will be the Operational Contract Manager for MaPS Digital Delivery Partner and be responsible for the recruitment and onboarding of the right people to the right teams.
You will be asked to work with other lead roles to promote effective cross-functional delivery. You will be a skilled team leader who can confidently communicate the value of the role to digital and non-digital stakeholders and be credible and influential across departments.

In this role you will be responsible for the following;
- Lead a team of Delivery Managers, providing them with frequent feedback and coaching to support their development needs.
- Perform a Leadership role in quarterly planning events, Scrum of Scrums, Delivery Management Community of Practice and other forums
- Proactively managing dependencies, overcoming obstacles and removing or mitigating against constraints and blockers
- Operational Contract Manager for MaPS Digital Delivery Partner contract
- Collaborate with Technology colleagues to ensure a seamless transition of products into support and implement quality assurance gates to minimise production incidents
- Championing agile delivery across the organisation and leading a community of practice which includes MaPS employees, contractors and 3rd party partners.
- Ownership of onboarding 3rd party resources into MaPS delivery methodology and ways of working.
- Managing risks and budgets to deliver the best possible value for money.
- Ensuring that teams have psychological safety to enable them to perform
This is not an exhaustive list of duties. The need for flexibility, shared accountability and team working is required, and the role-holder is expected to carry out any other related duties that are within the employee's skills and abilities whenever reasonably instructed.
Role details;
- Work with the Senior Product Lead and the Product team to ensure that delivery teams are operating as effectively as possible.
- Adopt a forward look at roadmaps and plans and adjust the delivery strategy accordingly in order to migrate risks and establish confidence.
- Work with the Chief of Development to manage our 3rd party suppliers and to ensure MaPS receives an exceptional level of service and high level of collaboration.
- Engage with Change and Planning colleagues to implement and shape the digital teams that are required to support MaPS strategic objectives.
- Support Programme and Project Managers in reporting and delivering against their plans.
- Present to large and small groups on Delivery Management and champion the work of the community.
- You will be comfortable in a fast-paced environment and an authentic leader for your team and within the Technology and Change directorate.
- The Lead Delivery Manager will be adept at building relationships across directorates and managing Stakeholders.
- An important part of the role is communicating between technical and non technical colleagues and enabling the team to do the same.
- You will be comfortable operating in an environment where many of the teams are blended to include MaPs and supplier colleagues – ie. “rainbow” teams.
- The Lead Delivery Manager will have a good understanding of the Product Lifecycle as it applies to government organisations and will have a passion for process improvement to drive efficiency in teams.

You will need to demonstrate the following skills and experience;
- 4 years+ experience leading Agile teams throughout the product lifecycle (must be certified in Agile).
- People leadership and line management experience.
- Demonstrable evidence of planning large Agile deliveries.
- Able to manage a diverse group of internal and external stakeholders.
- Stay current with industry trends, landscape changes and new technologies to identify new opportunities.
- Strong team leadership and experience with working cross functional teams, including collaborating with peers and other community of practice leads to plan and manage delivery.
- Experience of managing contracts and external stakeholders. ideally in a government organisation.
- Experience ideally in a government organisation would be beneficial.

At MaPS, we take pride in our flexible approach to work. Most of our roles can operate on a hybrid basis with a minimum of 2 days in the office per week. Hybrid working is a voluntary, noncontractual arrangement and your office will be your contractual place of work.
