Key Duties: 1. Responsible for receipt of reports from referral laboratories and input of results to the LIMS. This may include direct data entry or scanning and attachment of text reports. 2. Responsible for loading of samples on analysers, loading of consumables, analyser daily/weekly maintenance and running of IQC samples. Validation of IQC results is only permitted by HCPC registered Band 5 & above BMS. 8. To perform simple laboratory tests under supervision of HCPC registered staff. 9. To train and instruct other members of staff, of any grade, in all aspects of the role within the dimensions of this post. 10. Supervises and receives stock delivered to the department ensuring storage is in accordance with departmental procedures & that acceptance documentation is completed. Maintain stock rotation to ensure efficient management of reagents. 11. Ensures regular stock inventories are carried out and a senior BMS is informed of supply deficiencies. 12. Duties associated within Blood Sciences Department The reception of all patient samples into the laboratory, checking, bar-coding and use of Beckman DXA pre analytical automation for processing samples for analysis. The fast tracking of all urgent samples through the pre- analytical section to enable fast turnaround times to be maintained. Patient and sample data entry into the laboratory computer system to the required set standard. Use of the Beckman DXA. Perform daily / weekly etc. maintenance Prepare all racks at start of the day Check and load all consumables during the day Load patient samples Check all alarms / errors and correct as necessary Process any short samples and aliquots as necessary Archive samples using MPA and manual archives Transfer all aliquots produced by MPA to the relevant rack for storage / analysis / referral Stock take all consumables and inform Chief / Head BMS of any shortages. Clean and disinfect pre-analytics work area, laboratory equipment including centrifuges and fume cupboards on a regular basis according to maintenance logs. Maintenance of laboratory stock levels for all GTT and general laboratory consumables by performing a weekly stock take and informing the Chief / Head BMS if any stocks need ordering. A suitably experienced post-holder will be expected to provide a clinical service in the relevant specialty to patients of the Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust and to General Practitioners. The post-holder will be expected to provide a service to patients of the Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust, General Practitioners and to attend multi-disciplinary meetings. The successful candidate will be expected to work within multi-disciplinary teams in providing high quality clinical care. It is anticipated work will be undertaken on three sites and closer to the patients home. The Trust is seeking to extend services to GP surgeries/health centres etc and job plans may be revised in due course. The post-holder will provide support to the A&E department and acute medicine to ensure timely appropriate care and patient flow through the hospital. The post-holder will provide consultation and advisory service to clinical colleagues in the Trust and Primary Care.

Typical day as our Support Worker
• Assisting customers with practical, daily living tasks to develop their independence, helping them to achieve the goals, aspirations and outcomes documented in their support plans.
• Working with a with a Mental Health Diagnosis.
• Helping customers with daily living activities such as making meals, shopping, budgeting, maintaining their tenancy and moving onto independent accommodation if they are able.
• Carrying out risk assessments, support planning, goal setting and regular reviews.
• Cuppas, chats and catch ups. There’s no rushing from one customer to the next here! Plenty of time to work together with colleagues too.

• Experience of caring for others, you may have worked in care before or have experience of caring for others such as family members or children

You’ll join Katie our manager, and our wider Worcestershire team, we’re super passionate about what we do! Katie can often be found getting stuck into DIY projects. We’re really proud of developing the service to being 1 of only 2 providers within Worcestershire who provide Mental Health Support to customers who live within their own homes. We’re a supportive bunch and like to get together socially on a regular basis.
Job details
• You’ll join the team working on a rota basis covering across the Worcestershire service where required. This could range from working within one of our 24/7 Supported Accommodation Services to working out and about within our Community Properties or within our customers own homes. Although you’ll have a base, you’ll be required to work across the service as and when needed to meet the needs of our customers.
• Although you’ll lone work, we do get together regularly for training and team meetings.
• As it’s a service and community-based role you’ll often be out and about in various locations such as supporting customers to attend their volunteering placements at local allotments or completing their weekly shop in Tesco. No two days are the same here!
• You’re able to use technology to update support plans, complete online learning and to collaborate with colleagues.
• You’ll need an Enhanced DBS check done and we pay for that.
