• Performs the basic technical processes entailed in dispensing prescriptions including review of patient chart to determine appropriate the number of medications, quantities to be dispensed and dosages are within acceptable ranges based on patient age and weight.
• Verifies identity of patient, reviews all medications with patient using the IHS consultation method.
• Entry of data accurately into the computer for proper prescription labels, medication data for billing functions and medication profiles.
• Receives and fills ward and clinics supply orders for a wide variety of items stocked in the pharmacy

• Prepares the facility's annual budget plan in a timely and accurate manner by employing a wide scope of analytical devices that include analysis of historical patterns, cost benefit and trend analyses, operating accounts and salary projections, data retrieval from a variety of sources, and interviews with program managers and subject-matter experts.
• Performs all duties and completes assignments in compliance with Federal Appropriation Law and in such a manner that facility, VISN, and VACO performance measures and financial indicators are met.
• Responsible for the management of funds distribution from ten or more appropriations into approximately 375 Fund Control Points (FCP) and salary accounts throughout the NMVAHCS.
• Ensures that each program has a funding level that is adequate but not excessive for its needs.
• Responsible for conducting cost analyses and making financially responsible recommendations on new and existing contracts and agreements, analyzing cost data received from VACO, VISN, or other VA facilities, and preparing studies for top management.
• Oversees the daily operation of the Budget Section, ensuring that VAMC policies and priorities are being followed in accordance with underlying concepts of Appropriations Law.
• Prepares cost benefit analyses to aid in allocation or redistribution of funds, and reviews estimates from program officials and appraises their validity.
• Interviews candidates for positions in the unit; recommends appointments, promotions, and reassignments to unit positions
• Identifies and provides for training needs; and finds ways to improve production or increase the quality of work within the area of authority.
• Develops performance standards; and evaluates work performance of subordinates.

Nursing Service is seeking an Assistant Nurse Manager (5D Telemetry) to join our team!

The Assistant Nurse Manager (ANM) demonstrates leadership, experience, and creative approaches in delivering and improving holistic care through collaborative strategies with others.

The ANM provides and directs care for patients generally ranging in age from 17 through the geriatric years, taking into consideration diagnoses and physical, psychosocial, spiritual, and cultural needs.

The ANM is responsible for managing registered nurses, licensed practical nurses, nursing assistants and medical support assistants that fall under his/her/their purview; additional responsibilities of the ANM include, but are not limited to, Acting as Nurse Manager in the absent of the Nurse Manager, timely submittal of staff proficiencies and performance appraisals, post staff schedules according to rules and regulations, employee leave management, staffing coverage support, and other responsibilities as assigned.

The ANM assists in the coordination of patient admissions, discharges and transfers within or out of the facility in coordination with the NOD.

The Mental Health Nursing Assistant is a member of the Mental Health nursing care team and assists licensed nursing staff in the care of Veterans. The incumbent functions as a champion and advocate for the provision of recovery focused services to Veterans. As such, the incumbent is expected to model recovery and its defined values is all aspects of her or his professional activities and partnerships.

Duties include but are not limited to:

• Maintain a safe physical environment
• Providing 1:1 care as a Patient Safety Attendant
• Recognizing potentially hazardous conditions on the unit and reporting them to the Registered Nurse (RN)
• Taking and charting vital signs, height and weight.
• Completing complex nursing procedures including bathing, hygiene, grooming, dressing, toileting, oral suctioning, catheterization, colostomy irrigation and care, caring for residents with supplemental oxygen therapy and assisting the Psychiatric Provider or RN with physical examinations and procedures.
• Engaging the patients behaviors and improving their comfort.
• Observing and documenting disturbed behaviors and working with the interdisciplinary team on managing residents behaviors and improving resident comfort.
• Charting veterans' physical and emotional responses and progress, describing subtle behavioral changes and interactions with others, reporting and recording care.
• Maintaining competency in and appropriate use of Prevention and Management of Disruptive Behavior (PMDB) techniques.
• Assist with the care of Veterans in other areas of Mental health Services and within the facility when needed.

• Pull stock inventory and material for delivery; replenish stock inventory; interact with clinical and administrative customers and maintain records on stock levels.

• Provide information to customers regarding medical supplies.
• Monitor expiration dates, rotate stock to limit outdates and remove items from use as required by outdates.
• Monitor and control critical supplies.
• Perform daily inventory using bar coding equipment on a predetermined schedule that will allow for timely replenishment.
• Resolve differences between records and physical count of stock.
• Distribute items according to established or ad hoc requirements in computerized inventory management systems.
• Deliver supplies in a timely manner and ensure supplies and material delivered are in sterile and operational condition.
• Complete specialty cart preparation.

The Registered Nurse (Women's Health) duties include:

Providing competent, evidence-based gender-specific primary care to patients and oversight of licensed vocational nurses/nursing assistants, as appropriate to the setting.
