The position of Band 7 Ward Manager will offer you an opportunity to maintain and develop your expert mental health skills and also to utilise your managerial and organisational skills to improve patient experience and develop junior staff. You will be working closely with a well-established clinical team. You will receive regular supervision and support as well as opportunities to further develop your skills, ability and career.

The post-holder will have specific responsibility for managing the day to day functioning of the ward, providing a dynamic leadership role for the ward team. Ensuring at all times that the needs of service users are at the centre of the ward philosophy, that there are good working relationships with all members of the Multidisciplinary Team and other agencies, maintaining the highest standards of care and, where necessary to take a lead role in ensuring continuous improvements in standards for the benefit of good patient care. • Ensure the safe storage and administration of drugs in accordance with legal requirements, Trust Policies and local policies and procedures
• Ensure the ward emergency equipment are serviced and checked and all ward staff are aware of use, purpose and location
• To act as a suitable role model for your grade of employment

This post is based in a multidisciplinary setting and the post holder will work closely with all the members of the team (consultant, SAS doctors and doctors in training, nurses, health care assistances, psychologists, social workers & graduate mental health workers). Diamond Ward (Highgate West) is a 17-bed male acute treatment ward. It specialises in the treatment of patients with severe mental illnesses such as schizophrenia, bipolar affective disorder, depression and personality disorder, with associated challenging behaviours/risks. The focus is in detailed clinical and risk assessment with a view to starting early effective treatment. The clinical lead for the team is Dr Kavinda Gunathillaka, Consultant Psychiatrist. The post would involves working closely with other MDT members such as nursing staff, psychiatrists, OTs and psychologists.

Tasks would include participating in daily MDT meetings and ward rounds (clinical reviews), clerking in new patients, reviewing patients’ mental and physical health, ordering relevant investigations, performing physical examinations, blood tests and ECGs and participating in the out of hours core trainee rota. The foundation doctor would be working under the close supervision of Dr Gunathillaka, his specialty doctor and core trainees.

The post may be based full time in Diamond Ward or may be split between Diamond and another treatment ward in Highgate Mental Health Centre. If the post is split it will involve 3 days per week in Diamond and 2 days per week in another ward. The post has arisen because of a gap due to the post not being filled by a Deanery foundation doctor.

The North Middlesex Hospital is in a state of rapid change with a brand new “purpose-built” Accident and Emergency Department which houses a Gynaecology Emergency Room. We have an active Early Pregnancy Assessment Unit/ Emergency Gynaecology Unit, with two trained nurse ultrasonographers plus 5 Consultant sessions, two ultrasound machines with pulsed colour Doppler facilities, and daily beta-hCG assays.

The hospital has been designated as a Cancer Unit within the “North Central” London Oncology network.

There are modern, up-to-date facilities for minimal access gynaecological surgery including video cameras, laparoscopes, hystero-resectoscopes, Novasure endometrial ablation. The success of the service has led to increased demand for minimal access surgery from GPs and patients. There are weekly out-patient hysteroscopy clinics.

There is at present one weekly gynaecological urodynamic session. Enfield and Haringey Health Authority employ a senior nurse incontinence advisor and there is an active incontinence support group with a senior physiotherapist.

South London Regional Research Delivery Network (RRDN) is looking for an enthusiastic Research Nurse to join the Agile Workforce team.

The Research Nurse will play a key role in ensuring that any research undertaken within the Care settings department safeguards the wellbeing of the patients and is conducted according to Good Clinical Practice (GCP) and the Medicines for Human Use (Clinical Trial) Regulations 2004 and Amended Regulations 2006.

Working collaboratively with the clinical trials team and the wider multidisciplinary team in the management of research patients. They will also act as a patient advocate providing support and assistance as required and assist in the coordination and management of a portfolio of clinical research studies.

The post holder will be required to work flexibly across sites within the RDN: South London geography. The employing Trust will be Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust.

The post of Assistant Divisional Manager is a key position within the trust’s senior management structure. Operational and Performance Management

Be accountable for the delivery of services provided by the Division within available resources

Actively promote and develop new ways of working: continually review services and work with colleagues to redesign services to meet patient needs and enable the Division to achieve objectives

Identify and address service pressures, using own judgement to respond and deal with a range of routine and urgent situations and developments. This will require the planning, formulation, monitoring and review of action plans, policies and strategies

Be responsible and accountable for the formulation of new service developments and initiatives, including the preparation of bids and business cases.

Monitor Division activity levels, ensuring that activity, income and NHS plan targets are achieved by identification of areas where improvement is needed and putting in place realisable plans.

To work with commissioning colleagues to ensure that services are appropriately funded. This will include the analysis of services, including statistics, activity performance, audit, the use of confidential patient data and report-writing

Lead and participate in ad hoc project work as and when required

Project manage significant service transformation and change projects to deliver efficiency and quality improvement

Work with other members of the operational team across the Trust as required assisting with operational patient flow on a day to day basis.

Work with colleagues from every discipline and at all levels across the Division to improve service efficiency and patient experience.

Ensure delivery of Trust and statutory responsibilities within the financial resources available

Participate in the Trust senior manager on-call rota.

Deputise for & exercise the delegated authority of the Divisional Manager as required across the full range of their responsibilities.

Represent the Division at Trust meetings and the Trust at external meetings as required

People Management

Directly line-manage senior administrator(s) within the Division. This will include the provision of a broad range of HR areas of work including: recruitment; achievement and maintenance of performance and quality standards.

Monitor key workforce indicators (sickness absence, turnover etc.) that affect productivity and work with line managers and the Human Resources (HR) team to address issues of concern.

Promote a high performance culture by holding people to account within the Division.

Provide advice and guidance for staff who line-manage other staff within the Division and to become directly involved as and when required.

Analyse current and future service activity and establish the workforce required to ensure the appropriate staffing skill/band mix for the delivery of service plans.

Undertake individual performance appraisals for directly line-managed staff within the Division and to ensure appropriate training plans are developed within the required timeframes.

We are looking for a Specialty doctor [substantive] who will work with the national neuropsychiatry service at St George’s Hospital. You will work alongside consultant colleagues and an MDT. This is an exciting opportunity to work with a dynamic team and a growing service.

You will join neuropsychiatry service based at St George’s hospital which is closely allied to the Atkinson Morley Regional Neurosciences Centre. It is an outpatient service which covers over 3-million population and receives referrals from neurologists, psychiatrists or from GPs. A wide range of neuropsychiatric conditions are assessed and managed within the service including neuropsychiatric co-morbidities associated with various neurological conditions, functional neurological disorders and other organic psychiatric conditions. In addition, the service provides assessment and advice to patients in various neurosciences wards at Atkinson Morley Wing, St George’s Hospital.

In order to be eligible to apply, candidates must clearly demonstrate on their application form that they have completed their FY1 and FY2 Foundation training (or equivalent). This fellow job has come up as part of the NICU expansion in which we have opened 45 cots to provide all levels of neonatal care at the Royal London Hospital. We are a tertiary centre and take referrals from all over the North East London region.

The posts will be for a period of 12 months with further extension depending upon the clinical performance

Training will be provided as appropriate for the individual in accordance with the syllabus for trainees in neonatal medicine following discussion with their educational supervisor. In general training opportunities occur in the context of:

Consultant led ward rounds twice daily
Registrar led ward rounds in second half of post dependent on experience
Practical supervision
Concise topic teaching two mornings per week
Dedicated X-ray meeting
A weekly academic ward round and case presentation/seminar
Training in cranial ultrasound and echocardiography

Specialist clinics: Neurodevelopmental/Respiratory/Cardiology
3 hours protected teaching per week

Weekly general paediatric teaching sessions covering a wide range of topics
