Short summary

The Quantitative Stem Cell Biology lab, headed by Dr Silvia Santos, is seeking a Senior Laboratory Research Scientist (SLRS). The successful candidate will investigate spatio-temporal control of cell division and cell cycle remodelling during cellular differentiation using 2D and 3D stem cell-based models of human gastrulation. The postholder will drive a research project and contribute to collaborative projects within the lab. The postholder will benefit from excellent mentorship and training.

The research group
The Quantitative Stem Cell Biology lab, headed by Dr Silvia Santos, was established in 2018 at the Francis Crick Institute. The lab’s primary focus is understanding cell decision-making. Current areas of research include understanding regulatory mechanism regulating cell fate specification, cell cycle remodeling during cellular differentiation and the interplay between metabolism, cell cycle and cell fate. There is a strong focus on single cell analysis and advanced live cell imaging. The lab uses a variety of model systems: mouse and human embryonic stem cells (ESC), 3D organoid models of mouse and human development and mouse embryos.
The team is multi-disciplinary, diverse and currently composed of three PhD students, two post-doctoral fellow and one principal laboratory research scientist. The Santos lab promotes independent and creative thinking and all members are committed to providing excellent training and mentorship.

The Open Access (OA) team enables one of the fastest growing areas at Springer Nature. The Senior Air Quality Analyst is responsible for supporting the development of research, insights, and innovations in the areas of ethical AI (Artificial Intelligence), air pollution, environment, and health on behalf of Trilateral Research.



This role will be a thought leader and participate in/lead multiple projects on behalf of Trilateral in addition to representing our offering externally, including business development. In collaboration with peers, this position provides direction and supports the development of innovation and research projects related to air quality and net zero.


Key responsibilities include but not limited to:

Sales & Networking

Drive business development efforts and develop key client accounts and relationships to support cross-selling activities, both internally and externally, e.g., with Microsoft and AWS.
Represent Trilateral in related networks, events, conferences, working groups and activities that allow for the demonstration of expertise, building a respective and recognisable brand towards target markets.
Liaise with marketing to support and nurture appropriate marketing efforts to develop brand awareness across target markets.


Subject Matter Expertise within Product Development & Innovation

Provide subject matter expertise to support product development and innovation efforts in a sociotechnical manner that has a tangible impact for clients.

Contract & Project Management

Required education and experience

Existing network in relevant space to support the uptake of our offering.

PhD qualification in related subject matter area.

What could my day look like?

The Education Worker role is a frontline, fast-paced and rewarding role where no two weeks will look the same. A typical day will have different activities, possibly spread between the IntoUniversity centre, partner schools and the offices of a corporate partner.

In the morning, you might be setting off with resources to run a workshop for sixth-form students in their secondary school. In the afternoon you may be setting up the classroom ahead of running Primary Academic Support for young people in your IntoUniversity centre. On other days, you may be travelling to a corporate partner to run a business simulation workshop for 15 year-olds or leading a group of final year primary school students on a campus visit for their graduation.
