Your New Role:

We are currently looking to appoint a new Learning Support Assistant and join our amazing team at our unique outdoor setting to students aged 9-19 in our growing Warwickshire setting based in Southam on a full time, permanent basis.

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing proactive support in lessons and, where needed, taking instruction from the subject teacher to best progress the academic achievement of the students within the session. We are looking for practitioners who can build trusting relationships our learners, in order to work with them at all levels of emotional difficulty during sessions, downtime and transitions.

Outdoor learning is central in our provisions. The appointed candidate will need to be an advocate of outdoor learning, incorporating this into as many lessons as possible. You will also be delivering small group sessions at a base specifically crafted for a small group of students. This "homely" feeling enables us to nurture our students and provide them with the best education experience once we've successfully engaged with them emotionally and you will have a responsibility in supporting pupils in processing new information, which will be built upon a solid understanding of the student's manifestation of autism.

Experience:

The appointed candidates will have a minimum of 1 years' experience working with children and young people with Autism Spectrum Conditions.

Working Hours:

- Monday - Friday (08:30am-15:30pm)
- Term Time Only, 190 contact days

BACKGROUND TO THE POST

WCG is recognised as offering an inclusive and successful provision at all levels for Young People whose learning is affected by autism. The main purpose of this Specialist Learning Mentor post is to work with students with Autism Spectrum Conditions within their learning programme and help them towards achieving independence and reach their potential.

The Specialist Learning Mentor’s time will be spent with the identified student/s in a mentoring capacity both in the classroom/workshop/practical environment and 1:1 mentoring outside of taught sessions. There will be a requirement to undertake administrative tasks relating to recording student progress and supporting student retention and achievement.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

✓ To provide support 1:1 in-class, or mentoring support outside the classroom as directed by the SEN Team Leader/ASC Specialist Support Lead.
✓ To assist the class lecturer with the preparation/ adaptation of materials or activities for named student’s use.
✓ To actively promote and support independent learning, particularly through the use of technologies.
✓ To be a key worker for designated student/s to help reach their outcomes as stated in their EHCP.
✓ To support the Specialist Support Lead in the EHCP Annual Review Process.
✓ To work closely with the personal tutor/Personal Learning Adviser to ensure that the individual student targets are being monitored and reviewed.
✓ With knowledge/permission of personal tutor/ Personal Learning Adviser/SEN, Team Leader/Specialist Support Lead, make contact with parents, either by telephone or in writing where appropriate.
✓ To undertake training and development as required including Team Teach.
✓ To accompany and support the student during work experience placements, and/or trips, if appropriate.
✓ To undertake administrative duties which will include keeping their own records, completing ProMonitor records, updating tutors with student progress reports and completing regular student support/progress reviews.
✓ Work collaboratively with College staff to produce Individual Risk Assessment,

What skills and experience we're looking for

Applications are invited from suitably qualified, experienced and enthusiastic teachers to teach core PE to girls in Key Stages 3 and 4 and GCSE PE or Cambridge Nationals in Sport to Key Stage 4. The ability to teach A-level PE to Key Stage 5 level would also be desirable but is not essential and would not prevent suitable candidates from being shortlisted, if they meet the person specification.

Benfield School is seeking to appoint a Teacher of Geography who can inspire students to achieve excellence and explore their ambitions in Geography.
