This post supportsthe Lead Pharmacist for Anaesthetics, Critical Care and Theatres in the provision of a clinical pharmacy service to the critical care unit (approx. 50%), theatres and the surgical wards (approx. 50% combined)at this busy district general hospital. The post holder provides advice to the critical care department and theatres, and works on behalf of pharmacy to support perioperative management. Working with multiprofessional teams across the critical care, anaesthesia and surgical directorates to produce, and review, medication guidelines that promote rational, economical and evidence based prescribing; with appropriate monitoring practice to ensure policies and guidelines are adhered to.

Working with relevant staff to participate in nationally required, and clinically appropriate, audits, research and risk management strategies.

Assist in the development and implementation of systems for critical care prescribing management / prudent drug use within the Trust, to ensure the safe, economic and clinically effective use of medications in all patients in line with local and national initiatives.



Attending and contributing to clinical governance and finance, divisional and speciality meetings.

Support the lead pharmacists with drug budget management with the provision of evaluated medicine expenditure information to designated managers and clinicians within the critical care, anaesthesia and surgical directorates. Give specific advice on measures to control expenditure within best practice. Participate in cost-savings initiatives.

In conjunction with the lead pharmacists, implement and manage services designed to improve the pharmaceutical care of critical care and surgical patients in Cornwall.

Working with relevant staff to reduce risks in medicine prescribing, storage & administration. Provide advice where required. Ensure statutory ward drug stock checks are carried out. Ensuring legal requirements are met. Reporting of clinical incidents and responding to drug errors by helping to investigate incidents, review practice and decrease risks.

· Completion of non-medical prescribing qualification and using this in daily practice to enhance the optimisation of patient’s medicines and enhance the discharge planning process.



· Supervise and train junior staff. Be a role model and mentor.

We are looking for a Support Worker to join our team in Complex Needs, which is a Supported Housing service operating across Truro and Falmouth, to provide housing with support, to people who have experienced complex and chaotic lives, including homelessness, historic substance misuse, mental health issues, offending behaviours and other challenges.

We will be working closely with other specialist providers to deliver pro-active, holistic support to our customers, preventing homelessness and helping them to identify their goals and aspirations, build confidence, self-esteem and pride, and move forward to further independence, meaningful activity and stability.

We are looking for people to work with us who are motivated to make a positive contribution to the lives of the people we support and have a “can do” approach to their work. You will need to take a creative approach to support, adapting your style of communication. Our complex needs services provide opportunities for colleagues and customers to discuss and address difficult and challenging situations, but our primary objective is focusing on the person not the problem.

You will provide support and advice around managing a tenancy, working with benefits (housing benefits, universal credits, PIP and other), bills, exploring options around education, training and employment, budgeting, linking with and signposting to agencies and activities in the community and other appropriate services, running individual and group activities, supporting people with physical and mental health needs, addiction, and engaging with other professionals.

You will also need to liaise and develop strong links, with referral partners including external agencies. You will need to have a good understanding of Safeguarding, assess needs and risks appropriately to ensure the service is suitable for the prospective customers. You will help to keep the caseload management systems up to date and will complete Risk and Needs Assessments and Support Plans and assist in the preparation of reports, outcomes and case studies.

Experience in a similar role or lived experience would be desirable, however what is most important is having a passion for helping people in the local community.

This role will be challenging at times as you will be working with and supporting people across a range of difficult and challenging issues/behaviours; great team working skills as well as the ability to lone work, enthusiasm to work alongside partner agencies, resilience, an attention to detail, using your initiative and problem solving will be key.

This role is being offered on a full time, permanent basis, working 37 hours per week on a rolling rota, to include weekend working. Bandwidth hours will be 8am to 9pm.

Develop effective working relationships within broad range of internal and external stakeholders. This includes developing an effective communication network within the business support team, senior executives, and health and social care partners, voluntary and public sector organisations. Act as the primary point of contact for a range of business administration activities, with delegated lead responsibility for recording absence, training and appraisals for the relevant teams. Timely production of papers and other documents for internal and external meetings, of which some will also relate to cross system-wide meetings including the drafting of high quality documents (emails, letters, presentations), with varying degree of instruction or support. Main Responsibilities

• Day-to-day management of the branch to ensure that it is efficient, profitable and provides the highest standard of care to all customers.
• Holding the CQC/CIW registration for the branch and ensure that it operates within CQC/CIW guidelines.
• Maintain and grow carer numbers by actively recruiting new team members and guiding them through the recruitment process.
• Actively seek new business opportunities and support the commercial growth of the branch.
• Regularly review the operation of the branch to ensure that all customer needs are met.
• Ensure that all policies and procedures are communicated and implemented effectively within the branch.
• Support branch staff and carers with their training and development.

About You

To be successful in this role you'll need to have a level 5 NVQ in Management in care or be willing to work towards achieving this. Additionally, you'll need to have knowledge of regulatory requirements and best practice in line with CQC/CIW guidance and experience of working within the care sector at management level. You'll also need to have a full UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle.

Applicants will require an understanding of student needs and ideally have some previous experience of working in this area, particularly being able to advise on personal, financial and welfare issues.
