They are responsible for defining and tracking KPIs and OKRs that measure and drive the team's impact on product quality and innovation.

• You'll be responsible for the Business and Solution Architecture roadmaps owning the "what dimension" of the platforms delivery leading a team of Solution Architects and Solution designers joining the delivery squads to deploy the designed architectures and services

• Design an architecture strategy and roadmap to deliver scalable, flexible, simple to extend and resilient event-driven and API-bases architectures defining the integration patterns, services, data models and the business rules to implement solutions able to evolve and react to the new business needs or, better, being proactively an enabler for the business.
• Lead the choices of components/packages being part of the domain continuously reviewing the industry trends and working with key vendors to ensure to provide industry-leading solutions and platform features
• Be part of the O&D leadership team and representing the department across the Group architectural boards and authorities caring the relationships with the other architectural teams
• Collaborate with the Product Owners, the business and tech stakeholders to define the business and operational capabilities , processes and data-driven automated workflows allowing us to efficiently deliver our one Platform vision, an essential enabler for the current and future Sky needs, through a value stream approach

What you'll bring:

• Significant experience on Media/telco IT solution design including mission-critical 24/7 systems and integrations developments in complex/international environments.
• Preferred experiences on Broadcasting domain like TV Contribution, Origination and Content processing distribution solutions
• Knowledge on technologies, tools and methodologies for the SW solution design (API first event driven design, data driven automation, data streams, system integration patterns, microservices architectures, cloud solutions)
• Experience with public cloud platforms such as AWS and GCP to implement large-scale solutions based on microservices and serverless architectures of distributed services .
• Proven skills on DB modelling and technologies (RDBMS, NoSQL DBs, Cloud native DBs)
• Deep expertise of media codecs, video, and audio packaging technologies, encryption and DRM systems and supply chain processes and orchestration
• Business processes analysis, Agile and DevOps methodologies (Scrum, SAFE,…) experience

The Role

The SZC Project Team is a growing, diverse and collaborative organisation committed to engaging stakeholders, triggering development consent and preparing the project for the start of construction. The Engineering & Technical function within the Civil Works Programme (CWP) is an integral part of this project, responsible for the:

- Definition of the design, engineering, and technical requirements;
- Leadership of the delivery of all CWP design (from requirements definition to acceptance), including management of the Engineering & Technical budget and associated resources and supply chain to deliver the design to the CWP Delivery teams.
- Integration of constructability requirements and design integration within the Civil Works Programme and with Site Establishment and Offsite Infrastructure
The Design Manager will be part of the Engineering & Technical function within the Civil Works Programme and responsible for the technical aspects of the end-to-end design process in their specific scope area. The Design Manager will manage and co-ordinate the SZC Client and Responsible Designer inputs and requirements, manage technical change control, manage the technical assurance process to ensure delivery to quality and co-ordinate technical aspects with technical stakeholders, including EDF Nuclear Services Engineering (was PWRT TCO), SZC Design Authority, RD and L3 Design Supply Chain.

The Skills
The ideal candidate will…

- Hold 5 years+ experience in a Design Management role within the civils industry.
- Have obtained a master’s in civil engineering/ structural engineering.
- Be an experience people leader with excellent communication skills.
- Have extensive technical knowledge and understanding within civils.
- Has previous civils consultancy experience.
- Have exceptional stakeholder management skills.
- Experience managing multi-disciplinary teams would be beneficial, but not essential.
- Previous experience working on HPC is beneficial but not essential.

This will be a site-based role in Pimlico, London with ad-hoc travel to hub office based in Uxbridge.

We are seeking an experienced Design Manager to support the design team out of Uxbridge. The role is predominately site based however during Tenders the ability to travel to the Uxbridge office on occasion will be required.

Key Duties:

• To manage the whole process of designing the solution(s) for projects to meet or exceed customers' requirements and framework deliverables
• To recognise Contractual, Financial, Technical and Operational Risks
• To support the fulfilment of the pipeline of contracts Safely, On Time, and to the required Quality
• Lead the Appointment of Design and associated Consultants, ensuring a Contractual Requirements are captured
• Review and appraise fee proposals from the Consultants.
• Manage & monitor performance of Consultants encouraging a "Collaborative" approach to deliver robust, co-ordinated designs on time and to budget
• Lead the KPI assessment of each and the production of progress Reports as required
• Support and manage the development of CDP Packages to ensure compliance and that they are fully co-ordinate
• Assess the Consultants in line with CDM 2015 requirements and ensure all obligations are met. Designs should fully consider Health, Safety and Buildability.
• To manage and take ownership of all Design Processes and information flow on Design and Build and heavily CDP contracts to meet the Employer's Requirements, Contractors Proposals and Contract Conditions
  

Requirements:

• New build and refurbishment experience in: Commercial and Residential
• Managing Designers and other Consultants
• Proven ability of delivering design for projects on time, to budget quality standards with high customer satisfaction results. Experienced in analysing problems and delivering solutions.
• Computer literate and Commercially astute.
• Good time management with ability to multi-task
• Ability to make decisions within authority and able to lead and work as a team member.
• Strives for continuous improvement for the benefit of the company with drive to achieve customer satisfaction.
• Construction/Design related HNC/HND/Degree
