Engineering & Science

This position is based at the Biorubber Process Research Center (BPRC) in Mesa, AZ. This Industrial Mechanic or Millwright is responsible for leading and providing preventative and corrective maintenance repairs to facilities and process equipment to include chilled water systems, cooling towers, hot water systems, compressed air systems, hammer mills, bucket elevators, dust collection, hydraulic systems, centrifugal, seal-less magnetic and positive displacement rotary lube pumps.

This person should have solid experience installing and repairing mechanical seals and working with larger scale pumps. Experience with double seal technology would be a huge plus!

This individual will align machines and equipment, using hoists, jacks, hand tools, squares, rules, micrometers, and laser alignment and repair and lubricate machines and equipment.

The Industrial Mechanic or Millwright will assemble and install and commission equipment, using hand tools and power tools and use equipment diagrams and schematic drawings, to determine work procedures and trouble shoot operational issues.

This Industrial Mechanic or Millwright will shrink-fit bushings, sleeves, rings, liners, gears, and wheels to specified items, using portable gas heating equipment.

This is a Research and Development facility which means this individual will work collaboratively with office staff, EH&S teammates, Production Superivisors and Process Technicians in a non-union work environment.

Responsibilities:

• Keeping Safety First and maintaining a safe work environment as "The Top Priority".

• Works on repair and maintenance problems of moderate scope and assists with projects or processes while receiving general instructions from higher level professionals

• Participates in planning and coordination of maintenance work, including review of mechanical specifications

Employees in this job classification are responsible for the comprehensive coordination and administration of all matters relating to personnel, students, scheduling, curriculum implementation, external agencies, instruction, and all financial considerations relating to the department, and accomplishes such in coordination with the college's mission and college wide goals and campus-based initiatives. Associated Deans provide leadership for all instructional programs which may include all or some of the courses within the associate in arts, associate in science, and associate in applied science degrees as well as vocational and technical certificates. Performs related work as directed.

  

Minimum Education:

• Master’s degree in Health Science required. Doctorate Degree preferred.

Minimum Experience/Training:

• Three years of teaching experience at the postsecondary level required, with a history of academic and/or professional leadership roles in educational settings.
• Excellent oral and written communication, financial management and budget design skills.
• Demonstrated excellence in teaching and scholarly/creative research in higher education.
• Experience with Microsoft 365 (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint). Workday knowledge a plus.

Minimum Certification/Licenses:

• Certification in any Health Science profession.
   

Essential Functions:

• Daily - 20%: Provides effective leadership to department personnel in fulfilling the mission of the college as such relates to the short and long-range academic initiatives of the department. Monitors technology trends in order to design and implement new programs and/ or courses.
• Other -15%: Works in cooperation with program managers, program coordinators and faculty to prepare and manage the department budget (s), class schedules, and registration process and faculty assignments.
• Other 15%: Serves as liaison to other college departments and administration, for dissemination of information and articulation to various advisory committees, coordinates recruitment efforts when needed, establishes and maintains articulations efforts with external, accrediting agencies, high school and other colleges.
• Other -5%: Completes program reviews in accordance with state and college policy. Provides accreditation and departmental reports when applicable.
• Other- 5%: Advises students as needed for specialized degree and program offerings.
• Other -5%: Coordinates, maintains, and submits in a timely manner accurate records, inventory, payroll, faculty schedules, textbook orders, program manuals, grades, course syllabi, catalog materials, and requests for information or other reports.
• Other -5%: Represents the department and participates in various campus and college-wide activities, meetings and committees as appropriate.
• Other - 5%: Oversees and coordinates faculty, program managers, program coordinators, student advisors and technical support personnel. This includes recruitment, professional development plans, management and evaluation as well as the submission of appropriate recommendations of personnel actions.
• Other -5%: Oversees the purchasing and maintenance of the necessary hardware, software and support equipment required in the computer labs and classrooms.
• Other -5%: Assists appropriate academic administrators in the development, evaluation and revision of curricula and course outlines, and in the development of grant proposals and program development.
• Other -5%: Works collaboratively in the development of department and campus goals and objectives in accordance with established college policies and procedures.
• Other -5%: Participates in the development and implementation of departmental admission standards and procedures when appropriate.

This position entails developing back end applications using C# and SQL Server for high-volume, mission critical use. The role will primarily focus on hands-on coding of the project using the technologies listed below. Proven ability to organize workload and priorities and complete tasks on time & to work effectively in a team environment. Acts as a resource for other software engineers; and a liaison between department manager and other analysts, as well as the business team.

• Use Agile Scrum SDLC methodologies in the full life cycle software development process including requirements analysis, software design, prototyping, programming, debugging and testing of system software production applications.

• Participate in technical design and implementation.

Qualifications & Characteristics

• Outstanding troubleshooting and technical support skills 

• Experience writing multi-tier components for high volume systems 

• Strong oral and written communications skills
