This Lead Transportation Security Officer position is located at Asheville Regional Airport (AVL), Transportation Security Administration, Department of Homeland Security (DHS). As a Lead Transportation Security Officer (LTSO), you will be responsible for leading at least three full-performance level Transportation Security Officers (TSOs) and, as assigned, trainee and apprentice level TSOs. As an LTSO, you will identify, distribute, and balance workloads and tasks among employees in accordance with established workflow and skill level. You will make adjustments to accomplish the workload in accordance with established priorities. Duties include but are not limited to:

• Providing input to supervisors and managers concerning a variety of human resources matters including, but not limited to, employee performance, promotions, reassignments, awards, etc.
• Implementing security screening procedures in accordance with TSA objectives and directives.
• Assisting with investigations of incidents, and preparing incident reports or other documents that convey required information.
• Responding to breaches of security and emergency situations.
• Training team members, monitoring and reporting on the status and progress of work, and representing the team in communications with the supervisor or manager for the purpose of obtaining resources (e.g., computer hardware and software, etc.).

Mandatory Skill Set:

• Serve as a point of contact for BISOs. providing guidance and support to various BUs;
• Ability to prioritize and provide necessary support on the security tasks for designated BUs;
• Offer regular updates or flag outstanding important issues to relevant stakeholders;
• Standardize information security process across BUS/countries. driving the adoption of best practices;
• Bridge gap between local technology or business team with GIS. able to articulate security risks to local teams and contribute back any feedback to GIS;
• Drive the learning culture within the information security team to accelerate skills and knowledge of the information security community.

Desired Skill Set:

• Possess at least one of the following certification CISSP. CCSP. CRISC. or CISM;
• Understand Cloud Infrastructure.

Responsibilities:

• Facilitate the investigation and management of security incidents for designated BUs and communicate to relevant stakeholders;
• Ensure clear documentation of the business justifications, risks, the existing mitigation controls (if any) and relevant approvals are in place;
• Support security assessment for technology solutions for designated BUs;
• Offer expertise to BUs with the help of Group Information Security (GIS) Subject Matter Expert (SME);
• Collaborate with enterprise risk management to conduct risk assessments and support the development of risk treatment plans for the BUs;
• Facilitate the local implementation of group information security initiative for the designated BUs;
• Assist with the security awareness programs for designated BUs to enforce security culture and understand the information security solutions in BUs;
• Help to develop the Business Information Security Officer (BISO) framework / handbook outlining BISOs roles and responsibilities. This standardizes practice across the organization;
• Establish and maintain BISO community to share insights or discussion of findings from audits, incidents, or latest security trend with each BUs to facilitate cross-learning and capture lessons teamed;
• Gather input or recommendations with regards to Group Information Security (GIS) functions and programs from BISOs across various countries/markets. Compile the feedback and contribute to GIS for continuous improvement of the Security Operation Model;
• Collaborate with security teams to develop and implement tailored security awareness programs for business units and devise a structured professional development pathway for BISOs.

The Legal Administrative Specialist (LAS) serves as a member of the Public Contact Team, located in the Veterans Service Center. The incumbent provides in-depth information and comprehensive assistance to veterans their dependents and beneficiaries concerning any matter within the scope of VA benefits and related non-VA benefits. Specific duties include:

1. Counsels Veterans, their dependents, and their beneficiaries regarding all benefits available through the Department of Veterans Affairs, as well as non-VA benefits available through other agencies.
2. Explains the types of documents necessary to facility timely processing of claims and aids in obtaining and completing such document and forms as required by the type of claim being submitted or services requested.
3. Serves as facility Point of Contact (POC) and advocate for veterans and their beneficiaries in their dealings with other VA elements and organizations that may affect their claims.
4. Explains decisions made by the VA and communicates the reasons to the claimant for these decisions, orally and in writing.
5. Advises on the right of appeals and assists claimants in making appeals.
6. Develops a network relationship with the state and private Veteran's organizations to broaden the scope of outreach and increase the community awareness of the role VA plays in being a resource to the community.
7. Provides community outreach counseling and in-home counseling to those who are geographically isolated or physically unable to go to a VA facility due to physical or mental incapacity.
8. Participates in large scale outreach activities (claims clinics, tribal events, etc.), to support claims intake and benefits counseling.
9. Analyzes inquiries, research issues involved, consults with other federal, state, and local agencies as necessary and prepares written replies or furnishes replies by telephone or other medium to congressional or White House staff members.

• Ensure the physical security of the building and property of and the protection and safety of personnel.
• Provide protection to VIPs, to include General Officers, foreign dignitaries and high-ranking members of the Department of Defense.
• Perform dispatcher duties involving passing of information and directions to other Officers on patrol assignments.
• Exercise responsibility for the security of secure facilities, adjoining and disparate facilities and other areas housing.
