Job description
The Development Woodland Officer role is a new and exciting career pathway into the Forestry Commission for people from all backgrounds and abilities looking to start/continue their journey to becoming a professional Forester. The role is development focused which will see Development Woodland Officers engaged on a formal learning programme supported by Area staff and a central programme delivery team. Development Woodland Officers will spend 20% of the normal working hours engaged in off-the-job learning lead by the National School of Forestry at the University of Cumbria, this off-the-job learning will consist of bi-monthly residential blocks delivered at one of the University Campuses within Cumbria or at the Forestry Commission training Centre at Cannock Chase. The remaining 80% of time will be spent consolidating skills in a real-life working environment including potential of wider sector work placements to further build on the consolidation and expansion of skills and experiences.

On completion of the programme, successful graduates will earn a Professional Forester Apprenticeship (equivalent to Level 6), a BSc (hons) as Professional Forester and the potential to gain Chartered Forester status with the Institute of Chartered Foresters, in addition to gaining 3 years work experience. Providing the building blocks to continue a career in the forestry sector as a professional forester, planning, advising, managing, and supervising forestry activities and/or operations.

We require Customer Support Coordinators to join us on a permanent basis, at our Redditch site. Working on a rotating 40-hour basis: Mon - Fri (07:00 - 14:00 / 12:00 - 19:00) and 1-in-4 weekends. When working the weekend, you'll have staggered days off in the week to compensate.

You'll be joining as our first point of contact for all stores requiring our assistance. You'll take reactive calls, create Work Orders, chasing Engineers as and when required and provide stores with updates.

You'll have a confident phone manner, being assertive when required. It'll be challenging at times when you won't be able to provide a store with the answer they want, delivering that news may be hard for you. But the rewarding aspect is when you receive positive feedback advising the difference you made. You'll have a great ability to learn and retain information as speed, as you'll be using several systems and knowing which Engineer to send for which job is essential.

You will need to have proactive and problem-solving approach as you could be dealing with a power cut which requires an engineer within 2 hours, or it could be reactive maintenance work where you will need to schedule an engineer within 720 hours. You will be working to set SLAs and KPIs, therefore, it is essential you are SLA/KPI driven. You will be resilient, tenacious and confident when dealing with Engineers who pushback regarding the jobs you are advising, therefore, requiring a persuasive manner to ensure you book the correct engineer to the right job.

Your key stakeholders will be the Field Operations Managers, Managing Engineers and Helpdesk colleagues. Your new team will consist of Planners, Senior Planners, Team Manager and Operations Manager.

This is a 40-hour per week working 7pm - 7am, 4-days on, 4-days off
