The client is offering a full time, temporary position on an ongoing basis with the ideal candidate having experience of working within a local authority within a highways environment.

The Role

Key purpose of the role is to have experience and knowledge relating to the design and implementation of Highways Maintenance related schemes. The successful candidate will be expected to work independently, and as a part of a team, with the main objective of ensuring the Principal Contractor has a clear plan of what they are required to build.

Key responsibilities will include but not be limited to:

• Undertake and provide detailed drawings and documentation to assist in the delivery of the Highways Maintenance Annual Works Programme. Working under own supervision.
• Provide required pre- construction information, that includes a design that has an accurate Bill of Quantities.
• To assist in the development of information to form a construction phase Health and Safety plan, which satisfies Construction Design Management requirements.

The role

As an Assistant Design Manager, you will work on a wide variety of projects either in the residential or industrial sectors and will be reporting directly into the Senior Design Manager on site.

You will be working alongside the Senior Design Manager and will be welcomed by a brilliant project team and be supported by the Design Director.

Duties:

• Audit the design and identify inconsistencies, discrepancies and missing information and record, report and track the close out of these items.
• Take responsibility for the production and control of the design programme and report against it.
• Chair design workshops with the trade contractors and consultants, develop the design, workshop drawings and manage the coordination between trades.
• Manage the production and approval of samples, mock ups and quality benchmarks.
• Coordinate the integration of the building services with the architectural and structural elements of the project.
• Produce technical proposals for tender returns.

Design and Technology Technician
37 hours per week, term time plus Inset days and 2 weeks in school holidays to support the needs of the school.
Permanent, required as soon as possible
Salary: £21277 - £23314 pa
We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic individual to join our innovative and successful Design & Technology department to support the teaching of a wide range of Design, Art and Technology subjects. Key responsibilities will include:
● assisting in practical lessons
● preparing equipment and teaching areas
● maintaining equipment
● ensuring a safe environment for students and staff
The successful candidate will have practical and technical skills, with the ability to solve problems, strong organisational and ICT skills.
Training will be provided in areas that more knowledge is required
Essential skills: Ability to work as part of a team
A willingness to undertake appropriate training in areas not already skilled in
Good communicator.
Initiative to pre-empt jobs and prepare materials and resources needed.
ICT skills in basic software
Practical skills
Strong organisational skillsDesirable skills:Technical skills in Design and Technology subjects.
Knowledge of Health and safety regulations for the workshop.
Computer Aided Design skills
Applicants must also be self-motivated, possess excellent interpersonal/ communication skills and have the ability to work with students. Relevant experience within a secondary school setting is desirable, but this is not essential, as appropriate training will be provided.
