Job Description – Head of Logistics
Job Summary
Reporting to the Commercial Director, the Head of Logistics is responsible for the effective management of our end-to-end Logistics chain. This role spans day-to-day issue resolution, the planning, booking, and tracking of inbound shipments across multiple worldwide freight lanes, techno-regulatory compliance, and customs clearance, through warehouse management and local transportation.
Job Scope - The Head of Logistics is responsible for:
Overview
· The effective management of all matters pertaining to Logistics.
· Logistics budgeting and tracking against budget.
· Day to day immediate and effective issue resolution related to Logistics.
· Regular, rigorous review of the end-to-end logistics chain to maximize value creation.
· Building relationships with freight partners worldwide to deliver the best possible value from our supply chain.
· Compliance against SFA regulations relating to importation of food and drink.
· Special growth projects relating to Logistics.
Freight
· Effective shipment planning across circa 20 worldwide freight lanes, both sea and air freight to minimize cost whilst maximizing availability.
· Working carefully with the buying team and freight forwarders to plan and communicate weekly freight schedules.
· All communication with relevant freight forwarders.
· Daily shipment tracking and reporting to the Buying team and Commercial Director.
· Working with freight partners to effectively clear cargo from port.
· Producing and analyzing management information to facilitate good business decisions related to Logistics.
Warehousing and local transportation
· The day-to-day relationship management with all 3rd party logistics partners.
· Performance management of all 3rd party partners against contracted KPIs.
· Regular review of 3rdparty partner KPIs.
· Management of stock takes in the warehouse to an agreed timeline.
· Peak planning with the warehouse.
Techno-Regulatory Compliance and Food Safety
· Management of techno-regulatory compliance, import permits, and customs declarations across all freight lanes to minimize delays and costs.
· Management of SFA inspection booking and associated follow-up.
· Staying completely up to date with relevant techno-regulatory requirements, and informing the Commercial Director and Buying team when alterations will have any impact.
· Managing our Food Safety program as it relates to Logistics, particularly temperature compliance throughout the chain. Regular review and improvement of these standards.
