You will be responsible for delivering and clinically managing your own portfolio of academic and commercial research studies in Cardiology and Stroke and also providing research support to investigators. This post will enable you to gain clinical knowledge and skills around a variety of specialist conditions through working closely with the consultants and specialist nurses and multi-disciplinary teams.

A central part of the role will be to ensure that you provide excellent research monitoring and care to patients who have consented to participate in research and that the research/clinical teams you work with are appropriately trained, supported and developed within their professional/research roles. An important aspect of the role will be the maintenance of highly accurate and comprehensive records of data derived from the research studies.

Within this post you will develop processes and systems for maximising the recruitment of patients to academic and commercial studies and will ensure that research patients/participants are monitored, supported and receive the highest level of research nursing care. The Faculty wishes to recruit a Postdoctoral Research Fellow to participate in the European research project funded under the Horizon Program “HouseInc – Inclusive, affordable and sustainable housing for marginalized communities.”

HouseInc develops on understanding housing inequalities across a number of European countries, with a strong focus on marginalized communities such as refugees, and will co-produce solutions to reduce housing inequalities. The successful applicant will apply advanced data science techniques and analyze large data sets such as the European Social Survey (ESS) to understand wider impacts of housing inequalities, with a focus on health outcomes. About you

We are looking for a passionate individual who is committed to conducting outstanding research with the potential for real-world impact who has an appropriate research track record for their career stage. A PhD in data science, building science, climate science or equivalent experience and some programming experience (e.g. Python, R) is required.

What skills and experience we're looking for

You will be enthusiastic about working in a supportive capacity with staff and students and will have good communication skills. You will need to be provide support, guidance and demonstrations to students when using Science equipment and in Science lessons, under the direction of the teacher. An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Research & Development Directorate to join us as a Senior Research Nurse working on our exciting Haematology research study portfolio.

You will be responsible for delivering and clinically managing your own portfolio of academic and commercial research studies in these specialty areas and also providing expert research support to investigators. This post will enable you to gain clinical knowledge and skills around a variety of conditions through working closely with the consultants and specialist nurses and multi-disciplinary teams.



Research Department

The Royal Cornwall Hospitals Trust has a well-established research infrastructure running in excess of 300 studies across many specialities across the three Trust sites and also provides an outreach research service into the community. The growth in our research, development and innovation culture within the Trust has seen a year on year increase in the number of studies being carried out, bringing equality of research opportunities to our local population. As a department we see research as key in developing and innovating safe and effective care for patients and the research teams are at the forefront of this process.

Although your main focus will be within the mentioned specialties, you will be joining a wider dynamic team of over 100 research staff who, across the acute and community sectors recruited in excess of 4000 patients in Cornwall in the last financial year. Each year we aim to expand our portfolio to open studies in areas within the Trust that are new to research, increase our local research portfolio and attract further research to our sites.

This is a full time post working 37.5 hours per week.
