The Role

As a Research and Development Chemist, you will support the development and testing of new water quality instrumentation products.

Reporting to the Technical Director, you will work within the lab and improve our product quality and reliability.

You will also process data to analyse results and present the findings to management and directors, contributing to product development strategies.

Additionally, you will:

- Procure materials and record stock quantities
- Create risk assessments and follow COSHH regulations

About You

To be considered as a Research and Development Chemist, you will need:

- Laboratory experience
- An analytical mindset and strong problem-solving skills
- To be happy working on your own initiative as well as within a team
- A chemistry degree

Your new company
Your new school is a large secondary school with academy status located in Burnley. The school is coeducational and caters for pupils aged 11-16. Your new role
Joining a high-achieving department, you will be responsible for teaching Science to KS4. The role is to commence from September 2024 and will operate full time, on a temporary basis for a minimum of one term. As the role is long term, you will be required to plan and prepare all lessons whilst differentiating in pupil ability. You will also be required to mark and assess all work ensuring that pupils are progressing in line with their target grades.

What you'll need to succeed
To be successful in securing this position, it is essential that you hold a teaching qualification such as QTS, QTLS or PGCE and have experience of teaching Science to KS4. You must be able to commence the role from September 2024 and be able to commit to the full duration of the assignment.

The successful candidate will join a dedicated and supportive team, delivering Science to children with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs from Key Stage 3 up to Key Stage 4.

Responsibilities:
- Planning, preparing, and delivering Science lessons to KS3 and KS4.
- Managing challenging behaviour in the classroom and deescalating situations to maintain a safe and productive learning environment.
- Engaging with pupils who may have disengaged from mainstream education and promoting positive attitudes towards science.
- Assessing and monitoring student progress, setting targets, and providing feedback to students, parents, and colleagues.

Requirements:

- Strong subject knowledge in science and the ability to plan and deliver engaging and differentiated lessons.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.
