An excellent position has become available with a manufacturing Company in South Oxford for a purchasing assistant to work with the purchasing team to ensure all direct and indirect materials are available on time and purchased at the most cost-effective price.
You will be responsible for managing the cost-effective procurement of materials, goods and services into the business to support business requirements and ensure your allocated suppliers are performing to agreed KPI.
Your success will ultimately be judged on how well suppliers perform and the contribution to the business bottom line, through pricing and availability of material.
Main Duties:

• Raising purchase orders
• Raising and reviewing purchase requests
• Requesting quotations
• Attending and representing procurement in project meetings
• Liaise with finance department about incoming goods and invoice discrepancies.
• Liaise with sales about new pricing and lead times and piece parts so that's sales can estimate more accurately
• Sending weekly open order reports
• Regular vendor meetings
• Relationship building with suppliers
• Chase orders overdue date and report as required.
• File keeping, traceability of POs and credit card payments.

Qualifications and Experience:

• A qualification in Purchasing (CIPS) (Desirable but not essential.
• If you don't possess a CIPS qualification, would you have a willingness to obtain one that may include out of hours or distance learning?
• 3 years' experience using MRP/ERP/SAP or similar and are you competent in its use for placing and reviewing Purchase Orders and updating parts and supplier or customer data?
• Experienced in supplier or customer management.
• Demonstrate a competency in the use of MS Office Suite, including Excel, Word & Outlook?
• Experience of working in a manufacturing environment ( a marine manufacturing business would be an advantage).
• Possess a good level of Maths and English - Preferably 5 above in GCSE Maths & English or equivalent.
• Demonstrate a professional and entrepreneurial attitude to purchasing.

Buyer - Indirect Purchasing - Automotive Manufacturing

Responsibilities

• As the Buyer your primary responsibility will be to support the Purchasing Manager in performing all purchasing tasks including; planning, optimisation, supplier liaison and negotiation as dictated by the business requirements.
• A key part of the role will be supplier nomination, you will support and propose recommendations for local and Group suppliers to ensure that nominated suppliers are of the highest standard and comply with all Group process, procedures, policies, and guidelines.
• You will be responsible for tender processes within the assigned commodity. This will include identifying and analysing business requirements, preparing tenders and issuing them.
• Accountability for the overall portfolio of suppliers within your area of activity, including improvement measures, supplier circles, supplier failure recovery / actions and managing any political or economic consequences. In this you will ensure that suppliers are managed and coordinated to the operational and economic benefit of the company.
• You will be responsible for the administration and maintenance of the purchasing systems including directing all purchasing related queries from the business to the relevant department as well as managing contracts, purchasing records and databases.
• By managing the purchasing process from supplier to end-user, you will set up and maintain Contract Agreements in all systems, review purchase requests and check compliance with Group Guidelines before converting requests to purchase orders.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE.

• Previous experience within a purchasing related environment, ideally within automotive or aerospace manufacturing, or related.
• Previous experience in facilities procurement - indirect procurement experience also considered
• An in-depth knowledge and understanding of purchasing systems including SAP & SRM
• CIPS beneficial
• Comprehensive knowledge of procurement techniques
• A high level of numeracy with the ability to interrogate systems to produce relevant data
• Familiarity with the key elements of Purchase Orders, Contracts and Tenders together with their associated processes.
