The Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust, a world-leading cancer centre, and The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity are looking for a dedicated and enthusiastic PR and Communications Assistant to be part of a busy in-house communications team.
The successful applicant will have strong organisational and communications skills, with the capability to handle a varied workload and manage their time effectively.
They will need to be an excellent team player, willing to work with different teams on a variety of tasks and provide support to different parts of the wider communications team.
They will have proficiency in using Microsoft Office products, excellent written and oral communications skills, an understanding of how to use a variety of communications techniques with a passion to learn and develop these skills.
They will work across the Trust and Charity as well as with teams within The Royal Marsden Private Care and The Royal Marsden School.
As part of a team, they will work closely with members of the PR and comms team, supporting on PR activities, internal communications and events
Assist the PR and Communications team in proactively promoting The Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust, The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity, and Royal Marsden Private Care via national, regional and social media, and to assist with reactive media enquiries.
Produce written communications for, and disseminate to, internal and external audiences, including Trust-wide emails, the weekly email bulletin for staff, website and intranet copy, press releases and Trust, Charity and Private Care magazines.
Support the Trust Internal Communications Manager with Trust-wide internal communications, gathering and uploading content to the Trust’s intranet and new communications platform, RM Matters, and supporting them in the further development of these communications channels.
Lead on a variety of administrative activities across the PR and Communications team that are vital to its effective operation.

• To support the Senior PR and Communications Officers and Senior PR and Communications Manager to implement the public relations and external and internal communications strategies for The Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust, The Royal Marsden Private Care and The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity.
• To help deliver both a proactive and reactive plan to raise the profile and understanding of the work of the Trust, Charity and Private Care, enhance their reputation and promote awareness of their aims and achievements in ways which are appropriate for their different audiences (including patients, families, staff, supporters, governors and members and others within the wider NHS, the public).
• To assist the PR and Communications team in proactively promoting The Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust, The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity, and The Royal Marsden Private Care through national, regional and social media, and to assist with reactive media enquiries.
• To take a leading role in supporting the Trust Internal Communications Manager with trust wide internal communications, gathering and uploading content to the Trust’s intranet RM Matters, and supporting them in the further development of these communications channels.
