Job Purpose
As a Level 4 Cyber Security Technologist specializing in Security Operations, you will play a critical role in ensuring the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of an organization's digital assets. You will be responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining security measures and procedures to protect information systems
from unauthorized access, threats, and vulnerabilities. Your expertise will be focused on security operations, incident response, and monitoring.
The Cyber security department is looking for an apprentice to join the team to support protecting the organisation, employees and the company’s supply chain. Working within a team of dedicated professionals and with access to a wide variety of security technologies we will develop your skills, provide hand on experience,
gain insight into the security sector and learn a much in demand profession.

Key Responsibilities include:
1. Security Operations: Develop, implement, and maintain security operations procedures, policies, and guidelines aligned with industry best practices and regulatory requirements.
2. Incident Response: Lead and participate in incident response activities, including detecting, analysing, and responding to security incidents promptly and effectively.
3. Threat Monitoring: Monitor security systems and tools to detect and respond to potential threats, intrusions, and vulnerabilities.
4. Security Event Analysis: Analyse security events and alerts generated by various security tools to identify potential security breaches or policy violations.
5. Vulnerability Management: Conduct regular vulnerability assessments and penetration testing to identify weaknesses in systems and applications and recommend appropriate remediation actions.
6. Security Incident Management: Coordinate and manage security incidents, ensuring timely response, containment, eradication, and recovery.

Key Skills
To become a Level 4 apprentice in the UK, candidates are typically expected to have a combination of educational qualifications and relevant work experience. However, here are some general guidelines for the experience expected of a Level 4 apprentice:
1. Education: As a Level 4 apprenticeship we require a minimum of five GCSEs (or equivalent) at grades A*-C or 9-4, including English, Maths, and a relevant subject. Related A-levels, degree or equivalent qualifications in related fields are desirable.
2. Work Experience: While previous work experience is not mandatory, having some practical experience or exposure to the industry is advantageous. It demonstrates a candidate's commitment, interest, and basic understanding of the work environment. This experience can include internships, part-time jobs, volunteering, or relevant projects.
3. Industry Knowledge: Familiarity with the industry and a basic understanding of the role you are applying for are beneficial. Keeping up-to-date with industry trends, technologies, and best practices through self-study or attending relevant workshops or events can help showcase your interest and enthusiasm.

The role

As a Fire Alarms and Security Systems Engineer, you will play a crucial role in the installation, maintenance, and minor project works related to fire alarm systems and security systems. • Installation: Install, program, configure, test, and commission fire alarms, CCTV systems, access control, intruder alarms, and emergency lighting to meet site-specific needs and regulations

• Small Works and Modifications: Undertake system upgrades and enhancements, integrate with minor construction projects, and coordinate with clients and trades

• Compliance and Safety: Adhere to health and safety regulations, ensure work complies with industry standards, and stay updated on industry developments and best practices

The Ideal Candidate

We seek a skilled engineer with a strong technical background in fire and security systems, excellent problem-solving abilities, and the capacity to work independently or as part of a team.

• Education in Electrical or related field preferred; proven experience in installing and maintaining fire alarm and security systems; knowledge of fire alarms, CCTV, access control, and intruder alarm systems
• Excellent problem-solving, communication, and interpersonal skills; proficiency with diagnostic tools and technical drawings
• Relevant industry certifications (e.g., FIA, BAFE, NSI) are highly desirable; a valid driver's license
• Ability to lift and carry equipment, work at heights, and work outside regular hours, including weekends and on-call duties
