As the Head of Analytics and AI, you will collaborate closely with senior leadership to develop and implement effective reporting strategies. You will oversee the delivery of high-quality analytics, including data science and predictive analytics, while ensuring compliance with national reporting standards. Your leadership will be key in driving innovation and efficiency within the Trust's reporting functions.
Key responsibilities include managing team performance, developing and mentoring staff, and contributing to the Trust’s digital strategy. The role requires strong interpersonal skills, expertise in data analytics, and a deep understanding of NHS performance and waitlist management.

St George’s, Epsom and St Helier University Hospitals and Health Group cares for a population of four million people in South West London and North East Surrey. Our sites include St George’s Hospital, one of 11 major trauma centres in the UK and the largest healthcare provider and major teaching hospital in the area; St Helier Hospital, home to the South West Thames Renal and Transplantation Unit and Queen Mary's Hospital for Children; and Epsom Hospital, home to the South West London Elective Orthopaedic Centre (SWLEOC).
After years of collaboration, our two Trusts became a hospitals group in 2021. While remaining as two separate Trusts, being a hospitals group will help us to collaborate more closely on research, and the development, education, and training of our 17,000-strong workforce.
The main duties of theHead of Analytics and AIrole include:
1. Team Management:Lead and manage three teams—Analytics and AI, Elective Access Reporting, and Performance Reporting—ensuring they deliver high-quality, accurate, and timely reports that support decision-making within the Trust.
2. Strategic Leadership:Develop and implement corporate analytics initiatives, working closely with senior leaders to align reporting with the Trust’s strategic goals, including data science, predictive analytics, and AI.
3. Performance Reporting:Oversee the Trust's performance reporting, ensuring robust systems are in place to track and report on key metrics, including compliance with national elective access reporting requirements.
4. Resource Management:Allocate and manage resources effectively to meet the information needs of the Trust and external bodies, ensuring that projects and workstreams are delivered on time and within budget.
5. Stakeholder Engagement:Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including senior management, clinicians, and commissioning bodies, to ensure reporting meets both local and national strategic objectives.
6. Risk and Compliance Management:Manage and report risks related to information reporting, ensuring adherence to NHS Information Standards and Trust policies, and support the Trust’s Digital Strategy.
7. Team Development:Oversee the professional development of team members, including conducting performance reviews, mentoring, and providing pastoral support to enhance their skills and performance.
8. Administrative Duties:Handle administrative tasks such as managing team rosters, signing off timesheets, and deputising for the Head of Informatics and Business Intelligence when required.
These duties ensure the effective operation and strategic alignment of the Trust’s analytics and AI functions, contributing to improved patient care and organisational performance.
