We are advertising a Band 8A Senior Clinical Scientist post within our expanding team in the Imaging Physics and Radiation Protection group based within Oxford University NHS Foundation Trust providing services to Oxfordshire. The Group also works in collaboration with Somerset NHS Foundation Trust, with a contract is in place to deliver Diagnostic Medical Physics services across the county of Somerset and to other service users outside Oxfordshire.

This role is a key part to help us to deliver this innovative collaboration.

The job will be based in the South West of England so relocation to Oxford is not a requirement.

The position is permanent and full-time (37.5 hours per week).

The role would suit an accredited Medical Physics Expert in Diagnostic Radiology but we can support applicants close to achieving this status at a lower Band. We would strongly encourage development towards further Qualified Expert certification such as RPA and LPA, as appropriate.

The Lead Nurse for the Thames Valley and Wessex Paediatric Critical Care ODN will provide nursing leadership across the Network, acting as a source of expertise, advice and knowledge for providers, commissioning and ICBs. You will work alongside the national PCC ODN lead nurses to deliver on nationally agreed programmes of work and to support regional surge planning for PCC capacity.

You would work with the Network Manager, Education team and Lead Clinicians as part of a multi-disciplinary leadership team to lead the strategic and operational development of coherent and effective network arrangements, and delivery of a programme of work that addresses national and local priorities, leading on user engagement and risk management. some of the key programmes of work for the upcoming 18 months are: implementation of the PCC services specifications for Level 2, Level 3 and Transport services, working in collaboration with LTV providers to develop services alongside the NCEPOD recommendations and implementation of national Paediatric Early Warning scores.

You will also, in partnership with the ODN Education team, PIER and SORT play a key role in delivering education and training for Paediatric Critical Care across the ODN.

This role is primarily a home working role however the ability and flexibility to travel to regional and national meetings is essential.

• Work with parent/patient representatives and other health personnel to improve patients and family experience throughout their healthcare journey

• Provide proactive support to the patient support groups that are established within the network, ensuring appropriate links with national charities and third sector organisations.

Leadership
• Work autonomously across multiple professional, organisational and system boundaries and proactively plan, develop and sustain new partnerships and networks to influence and improve health, outcomes and healthcare delivery system
• Leads on research projects within the network to benefit PCC pathways.
• Work collaboratively with the other network nurses nationally to achieve national goals and to share learning
• Working with the ODN Management Team, the post holder will help to deliver the service specifications and GIRFT recommendations across the Network through collaborative working with L1, L2 and L3 provider organisations and commissioners.
• Coordinate, lead and manage the projects within the PCC workstream and support other workstreams as appropriate.
• Build strong relationships with key stakeholders in all acute trusts, ICB, and Specialised Commissioning across the region.
• Provide an over-arching nurse leadership and co-ordination role within the network for the effective delivery of nursing care, ensuring it is responsive and flexible to patient needs for PCC.

Outpatient Pathway

· Administer all new referrals received via the E referral service, ensuring all are electronically triaged by the appropriate clinical staff member and action asrequired.

· Process and log all non-Choose and Book referrals on EPR, including registering new patients in addition to updating existing patient details.

· Book new and follow-up outpatient and diagnostic appointments, ensuring that capacity is proactively and efficiently used. This includes booking patients into the correct clinic to ensure that they are seen by the most appropriateclinician.

· Reschedule outpatient appointments as a result of patients calling the service, in line with the 18-week RTT / cancer / screening targets and agreed local processes inrespectto patient cancellations.

· Actively review patient DNAs,liaisingwith the appropriate clinical staff and reschedule patientappointmentsinlinewithagreedlocalprocesses.

· As required, completecliniccancellation forms and ensure appropriately authorised(minimum6 weeks'noticerequired) before processing thecliniccancellation on EPR andrescheduling of patient appointments.

· Addingadditionalcliniccapacity on EPR as directed by management, toincludethe useof adding appointment slots on EPR that can be booked via Choose andBook.

· To be responsible for actively managing the OP PTL and Incomplete lists.
General
· Demonstrate high levels of customer care and be an ambassador for customer care within the Trust.

· Provide a robust administration function that underpins the delivery of a high quality service and maintain effective working relationships with clinical, nursing and administrative staff.

· Answer all telephone calls in a timely manner and action as appropriate.

· Maintain patient confidentiality at all times.

· Be flexible in your approach to work, such as covering other job roles at an appropriate grade or site, and to include varying working hours to ensure the service maintains a minimum level of cover during its core hours of 08:00 to 17:00.

· Retrieve notes and ensure all patient information is available in a timely manner for all appropriate outpatient appointments, diagnostic appointments and inpatient / daycase procedures, checking demographics at every stage and locating lost notes where appropriate.

· Support the Team Leader, Patient Pathway Manager and Service Manager in the investigation and resolution of patient queries and complaints received direct to the service or via PALS / Complaints Department.

· Book interpreters for patients prior to appointments and admissions as and when required.

· Liaise with Clinical coders to ensure patient notes are available so that all patient episodes are coded accurately and promptly.

· To support and contribute to on-going and future service development projects supporting continuous improvement of the services we provide.

· Any other duties at the request of the Team Leader / Patient Pathway Manager / Service Manager, which may be needed to fulfil the objectives of the post, which are appropriate to the grade.

Obtain and maintain Good Clinical Practice (GCP) training, apply principles of GCP in the management of clinical trials and work within the Medicines for Human Use (Clinical Trial) Regulations 2004 and EU directive relating to Clinical Trials, communicate with Investigators, Research Nurses, Trust R&D, Sponsors, Clinical Research Associates and Pharmacy staff during the set-up and running of a clinical trial, ensure clinical trial protocols and SOPs are followed during dispensing of clinical trial investigational medicinal products and other drugs included in the protocol, order and receive in clinical trial drugs, process receipt paperwork and acknowledge receipt on IVRS (Electronic Medication Supply) systems, check stock levels and expiry dates of clinical trial drugs and keep balance logs up to date, assist with the packing down and re-labelling of clinical trial drugs if required, assist with the preparation for monitoring meetings, audits and inspections, maintain Clinical Trial files ensuring items can easily be located and are presentable, process returned clinical trial drugs and ensure the paperwork is kept in order, participate in the statutory temperature monitoring of clinical trial stocks, assist with the destruction of clinical trial medication, assist with the closedown and archiving of clinical trial files, represent the Clinical Trials Team to update the dispensary staff at meetings, liaise with Research Nurses to update them on trial progress, stock levels etc, assist in the collection of data as requested by the Senior Clinical Trial Technician or Clinical Trial Pharmacists, assist in maintaining financial records, including the generation of invoices, checking payments etc, assist with general administration such as organising set up meetings etc and be a point of contact within the Clinical Trials Pharmacy Team, maintain clinical trial filing systems and drug accountability documentation for clinical trials, use the computer system and other information technology in all areas of Pharmacy.

Additionally, you would be involved in supporting Clinical Trial Aseptic Unit to:

Participate in the day to day running of the CTASU in line with the rota system, participate in safe systems of work and documentation of these, undertake safe and accurate preparation of a wide range of aseptic products on a daily basis, including cytotoxics, epidurals, antibiotics, injectables, novel agents and monoclonal antibodies, maintain personal expertise, skills and necessary knowledge of the technical aspects of aseptic and non-aseptic dispensing, ensure products are prepared according to standard operating procedures (SOPs), assemble drugs and consumables required for preparation of aseptic products, accurately recording batch numbers and expiry dates, be responsible for the accurate completion of product worksheets and labels, assigning batch numbers to aseptically prepared products, accurately and safely label aseptically prepared products, facilitate the quality assurance of products and to notify the Senior Aseptic Technician of any incidents and procedural deficiencies, be responsible for ensuring finished products are packed prior to distribution to ensure the prompt and safe delivery, ensure finished products are transported in the appropriate environment taking into account any physical & legal requirements, be responsible for unpacking and receipt of deliveries, undertake regular expiry date checking to identify expired or short dated stock, be responsible for monitoring drug stock and consumable levels and replenishing, ensure that all equipment within CTASU is in good working order and serviced regularly, participate in the clean room/isolator cleaning rota, assist in environmental and physical monitoring of the CTASU, be involved in the maintenance of departmental records including staff training, environmental monitoring, cleaning, maintenance logs and worksheets, where applicable to be involved in the delivery of drugs to clinical areas

A Band 6 Deputy Sisters post has become available in our busy diagnostic suite and out patient departments. If you want to work within a supportive and challenging environment assisting the doctors to provide care for women with a wide range of gynaecological conditions then this could be the position for you.

You will be expected to work as part of a team in order to assist the doctors with diagnostic procedures and facilitate the efficient running of clinics. You will required to assist in the running of specialised clinics such a our 2 week wait hysteroscopy, vulval and pelvic mass clinics, our colposcopy clinics supporting clinicians carry out treatments following abnormal smears and our general gynaecology clinics that include urogynaecology and endometriosis clinics. This role covers a wide variety of services within women’s health. You will be part of the nursing team to support the department sister in the running of the unit. You will assist in the maintenance of the patient environment in terms of cleanliness, tidiness, auditing, and the restocking and ordering of supplies. You will be part of the team also supporting our Pre op assessment nurses to carry out assessments on our patients that fit certain criteria following out patient hysteroscopy being booked for general anaesthetic.

Design and implement internal quality assurance schemes to ensure service compliance with national and international accreditation standards in consultation with senior staff. 33. Outpatient Pathway Administer all new referrals received via the E referral service, ensuring all are electronically triaged by the appropriate clinical staff member and action as required. Process and log all non-Choose and Book referrals on EPR, including registering new patients in addition to updating existing patient details. Book new and follow-up outpatient and diagnostic appointments, ensuring that capacity is proactively and efficiently used. This includes booking patients into the correct clinic to ensure that they are seen by the most appropriate clinician. Reschedule outpatient appointments as a result of patients calling the service, in line with the 18-week RTT / cancer / screening targets and agreed local processes in respect to patient cancellations. Actively review patient DNAs, liaising with the appropriate clinical staff and reschedule patient appointments in line with agreed local processes. As required, complete clinic cancellation forms and ensure appropriately authorised (minimum 6 weeks' notice required) before processing the clinic cancellation on EPR and rescheduling of patient appointments. Adding additional clinic capacity on EPR as directed by management, to include the use of adding appointment slots on EPR that can be booked via Choose and Book. To be responsible for actively managing the OP PTL and Incomplete lists. General Demonstrate high levels of customer care and be an ambassador for customer care within the Trust. Provide a robust administration function that underpins the delivery of a high quality service and maintain effective working relationships with clinical, nursing and administrative staff. Answer all telephone calls in a timely manner and action as appropriate. Maintain patient confidentiality at all times. Be flexible in your approach to work, such as covering other job roles at an appropriate grade or site, and to include varying working hours to ensure the service maintains a minimum level of cover during its core hours of 08:00 to 17:00. Retrieve notes and ensure all patient information is available in a timely manner for all appropriate outpatient appointments, diagnostic appointments and inpatient / daycase procedures, checking demographics at every stage and locating lost notes where appropriate. Book interpreters for patients prior to appointments and admissions as and when required. Liaise with Clinical coders to ensure patient notes are available so that all patient episodes are coded accurately and promptly. Take on alternating roles alongside other members of the PD team to: Provide advice, education and support for patients and staff in the renal unit / other departments. Deal with any outpatient telephone queries and assess patients in the unit. Provide nurse consultations in the clinic or at the patients home. Liaise closely with the Home Therapies/ PD nurses in Network units, providing peer support. Promote a culture that supports and enables self-care. Support the development of patient focussed education, including training to self-manage on-going consequences of treatment. 2. Liaising with companies re: patients holiday deliveries. Monitor in patient activity for therapy costing purposes. Maintaining accurate EPR patient records. 6. Use current research / best evidence to underpin clinical practice. Involvement in any research studies underway in the unit. 7. Ensure that all equipment used by staff or patients is maintained in a safe working condition and that any faults are reported to technical staff. Ensure patients / relatives are taught how to use specific machines in a structured teaching session and their competency is documented and reviewed as appropriate. 8. PGDs Ensure assessment and competency achieved to allow use of PD PGDs, be involved in audit yearly. 9. To manage complaints from relatives/patients, to prevent further escalation whilst promoting support to the manager. Education 1. Supervise, teach and support nursing and non-nursing staff involved in direct patient care. 2. Use a variety of teaching resources and aids to provide a structured patient training programme, which can be adjusted to meet the learning, needs of each individual. 3. Participate in formal teaching sessions on renal unit study days. Provide clinical support on informal basis for ward staff. 4. Mentor undergraduate / post registration renal course students. 5. Act as a role model in expert clinical evidence-based practice. 6.
