Here at Serco, we’re seeking a Finance Business Partner in Serco’s Health division, you will provide essential financial and commercial insight across our healthcare contracts in Scotland, including Forth Valley Royal Hospital, University Hospital Wishaw, Queen Elizabeth Hospital’s Langlands Building, and Dumfries and Galloway Royal Infirmary. Reporting to the Finance Director, you’ll serve as a key advisor to the Regional Director and contract leadership teams, transforming financial data into actionable insights that support strategic decisions and drive performance. You’ll also oversee financial planning, forecasting, and analysis, collaborating with our off-shore Finance Centre of Excellence to ensure accurate, timely reporting that aligns with contract and business goals.
In this role, you will lead efforts to optimise contract performance by identifying efficiencies, managing financial and commercial risks, and ensuring compliance. Your on-site presence will be crucial for building relationships with NHS clients and understanding their unique needs, allowing you to deliver value-driven financial support. You’ll also play a key role in cost optimisation, scenario planning, and supporting business growth through financial analysis and strategic guidance, directly contributing to the sustainability and success of essential healthcare services across Scotland.
Main responsibilities of the role:
- Act as a trusted, visible, and accessible point of contact to business leaders; providing commercial and financial decision support; challenge and insight into business profitability to drive future performance.
- Oversee financial operations for contracts totalling approximately £40m in revenue, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and on-time reporting with support from our off-shore Finance Centre of Excellence.
- Lead financial planning, forecasting, and analysis efforts, including scenario planning, KPI analysis, and cost optimization, to support contract performance.
- Identify and manage financial and commercial risks, providing recommendations for operational improvements and efficiency.
- Build and maintain robust relationships with NHS stakeholders and internal teams to support informed financial decision-making and collaborative risk management.
What you’ll need:
- Must hold an appropriate professional qualification (e.g., ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent).
- Strong commercial acumen, with experience in a complex, fast-paced business environment.
- A proven ability to transform financial data into clear, actionable insights to support strategic decisions.
- Excellent influencing, negotiation, and conflict-resolution skills with key decision-makers.
- Adaptability and resilience, with the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Strong relationship-building skills and a customer-focused approach, essential for collaborating with NHS clients and internal stakeholders.
- A track record of driving financial performance through analysis, planning, and cost optimization initiatives.
- Willingness to travel occasionally within the UK.
