Be competent in giving Hepatitis A, Hepatitis B and HPV vaccines according to existing PCN SOP and national guidelines. Administer medicine within the limitations of the role, in line with scope of practice in accordance with NMC Code and PCN policy. This will include the administration of oral, intramuscular, topical and subdermal medication when deemed competent. To competently administer treatment for a range of sexually transmitted infections under PSD according to PCN and national guidelines. Administer medications in line with PCN medicine management policy. Demonstrate the ability to recognise the effects of medicines, side effects, drug sensitivity, contraindications adverse reactions and allergies. Responsible for contributing to the clinical environment which promotes a positive patient experience and care, promoting privacy and dignity at all times. Educate patients and families about sexual health & HIV related illness, conditions and medication under the direct / indirect supervision of the Registered Nurse. The role will complement our existing ADHD pathway team of a clinical lead/ Independent Non-Medical prescriber and an assistant practitioner, an element of the role will be to support with supplementary prescribing. Prior attainment of the ‘Independent & Supplementary Nurse Prescriber V300’ would be an advantage; alternatively a willingness to undertake.

The Home Treatment team work in the community with people in acute mental health distress, they support people in their own home to avoid hospital admission and support early discharge from hospital.

SKILLS REQUIRED: Previous NHS experience essential and at least one year experience working within a similar role.

The Role:

• Provide a high standard of care to individuals (adults and older adults) with mental illness.
• Develop therapeutic relationships to optimise patient engagement.
• Contribute to patient assessments, compiling a plan of care alongside the individual, and monitoring patient progress.
• Follow all codes of conduct, standards and legislation, respecting the rights of others and promoting ethical practice.

The Person

• 12 months minimum UK experience working as a Registered Mental Health Nurse
• Current NMC Registration
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team.
• You'll be warm and engaging while showing real empathy with service users and their individual circumstances.

Band 6 Mental Health practitioner Posts in Barrow HTT.

Barrow Home Treatment Team is looking to welcome 3 Mental Health Practitioners.

Essential Qualifications required:

Registered Mental Health Nurse/ Social worker / Occupational therapist

The Home Treatment team work in the community with people in acute mental health distress, they support people in their own home to avoid hospital admission and support early discharge from hospital.

The team are looking for mental health practitioners that are highly motivated and enthusiastic. The successful applicant will need to be able to demonstrate excellent clinical skills. It is expected they would have a good working knowledge of mental health and community services.

Excellent communication skills are essential with an ability to manage change and support colleagues around learning and development.

You will need to be proactive, innovative and able to provide quality care, the service users and carers at the heart of everything you do. In return we will offer excellent supervision, training, support and an environment for you to develop and enhance your current skills.

The Barrow HTT are a 24 hr service working shift pattern of long days including nights, although happy to discuss flexible working patterns.

You will provide a comprehensive assessment and triage service and, where necessary signposting or clear onward facilitation to a mental health pathway. Your referrers will include GPs, Police and Acute Hospital colleagues, self-referrals and referrals from carers. Service users will be triaged collaboratively and a decision will be made in consultation with the referrer and with the use of a clinical tool, the response time required.

This comprehensive, collaborative triage system will lead to comprehensive assessment clear onward facilitation of service users to the most appropriate care following assessment.

The post holder will provide evidence based mental health assessments and/or signposting to alternative service provision for people who present requiring a specialist urgent mental health assessment. The post holder may offer follow-up appointments within the agreed timescale for intervention as part of the on-going assessment process.

*The £7k Welcome Bonus package applies to this role. The bonus is only available for people who are not currently employed (or who have not been employed in the last 12 months) by any NHS provider trust in the Lancashire & South Cumbria Integrated Care System in a like-for-like role; e.g. a Band 6 Registered Mental Health Nurse at another Trust in the LSC ICS would not be eligible for the bonus if moving to a Band 6 Registered Mental Health Nurse role at LSCFT. Bank only workers for Lancashire and South Cumbria NHS Foundation Trust are eligible for the scheme if they have not held a substantive role in Lancashire & South Cumbria Integrated Care System in the last 12 months (subject to all other terms and conditions being met). These incentives are subject to recovery clauses within the first 6 months of employment. This bonus is applicable from 1st July 2024 – 30th September 2024.
The £7k Welcome Bonus package is designed to attract and retain the very best staff in post. The amount a new starter would receive is shown in the Welcome Bonus Payment Schedule below:
