The Honduras Citi Country Officer (CCO) & Banking Head is an integrated senior management-level position, focused on leading the growth and protecting the Citi franchise in the country.
The CCO & Banking Head is responsible for:
- Overseeing all Citi businesses and operations in the country;
- Driving the overall franchise’s strategic and financial performance;
- Fostering key client and regulatory relationships;
- Managing the organization and corporate governance of country-based legal entities and their regulatory reporting, adhering to the Legal Entity Standard;
- Acting as the lead Citi representative in the country and as a single, coordinated face for the local market, which includes the government, regulators, clients, media, community, and employees;
- Promoting a culture of timely escalation, ethics, compliance, and control.

Within the International area, the CCO & Banking Head is responsible for:
- Lead a franchise-wide client engagement across all local businesses with agility, maximizing the value of the network through active collaboration and differentiating our firm through compelling thought leadership content;
- Attaining and maintaining strong relationship management with clients, government officials, regulators, employees, and media that engender a high level of trust and transparency to support the development of Citi’s market position and growth;
- Driving collective focus on improving the risk and control environment, including issue management, regulatory compliance, and enterprise-wide control initiatives, fostering a culture of escalation;
- Maintaining good health of all legal entities in the country and reviewing their ongoing necessity;
- Taking part in the decision-making process for acquisitions/investments/divestments for proprietary M&A in the country;
- Appropriately managing (directly or through matrix reporting) all businesses, product lines and functions based in country;
- Providing oversight for all critical country and other risk limits and for country risk reviews;
- Responsible for chairing the country governance ensuring compliance with all corporate policies, including ethical standards, corporate governance standards and business practices requirements;
- Monitoring compliance with all applicable laws and regulations (local and US), financial inclusion requirements and corporate policies;
- Leading Citi’s response to a franchise-wide event, e.g., crisis or disaster across all businesses and functions;
- Executing Citi’s Talent agenda and overseeing franchise-wide Talent review, training, and development activities, in partnership with Human Resources;
- Partnering with board to enable effective working relationships and clear directional understanding with all directors, and in particular, with external directors.
Within Banking, the CCO & Banking Head is responsible for:
- Maximizing overall Banking segment profit and loss and returns within Honduras;
- Meeting Banking revenue goals related to budget;
- Leading account planning and follow through with individual target clients and in aggregate;
- Increasing network revenues and maximizing share of wallet across all products and all client segments;
- Managing the development and execution of Citi’s overall strategy to achieve both short and long- term goals in compliance with corporate standards and local regulations;
- Parent relationship management of our clients’ top executives and key stakeholders, while maintaining ethical standards;
- Leveraging and ensuring alignment with Citi’s core strategy to originate both flow and episodic revenue;
- Providing and promoting a wide range of treasury and corporate finance solutions, including cash management, trade, vendor finance, foreign exchange, general credit, loans, debt capital markets, share repurchase, and interest rate and equity derivatives;
- Capital and credit allocation in partnership with Global Capital Management (GCM) and Independent Risk Management;
- Ensuring the efficient use of capital and capital returns (RORC and RoTCE) across the franchise;
- Understanding regional trends to identify growth opportunities, anticipate obstacles and communicate a forward-looking vision responsive to changes;
- Leading the Sustainability agenda and the digital transformation for our clients;
- Building strong teams and recruit diverse bankers in the franchise.
Qualifications, Experience and Strengths:
- 15+ years relevant experience in the financial services industry;
- Proven leadership skills and strategic thinking to create momentum and a collective agenda across multiple products with a diverse population and competing priorities;
- In-depth experience and understanding of banking products, including loans / debt (short and long-term), capital management, cash management, trade products, corporate and structured finance, Debt Capital Markets (DCM), and derivatives products;
- Senior Credit Officer (SCO) preferred;
- Demonstrated understanding of compliance issues and regulatory requirements (global and local);
- Previous experience of managing a P&L and overseeing Risk, Controls and Governance;
- Experience in managing medium/large teams across a matrix organization;
- Demonstrated intellectual grasp and understanding of the industry, its evolving trends and client’s top business challenges to drive compelling thought leadership and raise Citi’s share of mind in partnership with the Client Organization;
- Relationship management with both internal and external stakeholders;
- Ability to drive and foster simplification to achieve efficiency;
- Understanding and translating global/regional strategy;
- Demonstrated clear and concise written and verbal communication.
