Here at The Castle School Education Trust (CSET) we are on a journey to making each of our nine schools a great school. We are a progressive and agile workforce looking for a motivated and efficient Finance Assistant to join our committed finance team and support Downend School, Westerleigh Road, Downend, BS16 6XA which is easily commutable from Bristol, Bath, Gloucester and South Wales. This is a temporary term time role to cover maternity leave with some additional weeks in the school holidays, so you will need to be able to commit to working 35 hours, 41 weeks of the year. We also offer an attractive defined benefit local pension scheme. You will be based from the school but there is flexibility to be able to work from home when needed; you will sometimes be expected to attend team meetings in the CSET Partnership offices.
The Person It is essential that you can prioritise your workload whilst working unsupervised and be open to supporting other areas of the finance team. You will be personable and able to build and maintain relationships with your colleagues and stakeholders.
The Role Reporting to one of our Finance Business Partners, you will be providing administrative and transactional support to the finance team and schools. This will include: raising purchase orders and processing purchase invoices liaising with school staff to help them to manage their budgets assisting parents with access to and issues with the online payment system raising sales invoices and ensuring good credit control bank reconciliations

Hays Accountancy & Finance are partnering with a well-established and successful manufacturing group to recruit a dynamic and experienced Finance Business Partner based in their Stonehouse, Gloucestershire office. A progressive role offering career development where you will take responsibility for working directly with operational management providing daily/weekly/monthly performance analysis on key business metrics. Open to qualified/part-qualified accountants or qualified by experienced finance professionals, with business partnering experience.

Your new role

Your key duties will involve business partnering with operational team, driving/supporting bottom line improvements, providing analysis and delivering insight that links financial reports to business strategies. You will act as a financial advisor, offering general financial support to commercial decision makers, take ownership of operational budgets, implementation of weekly/monthly reporting to the business on KPI's, with emphasis on cost per unit metrics. You prepare month-end variance analysis, undertake project-based work for specific strategies/business initiatives, and be involved in internal/external audit. You will be involved in ad-hoc duties and financial analysis, as well as deputising for the Finance Manager when required.

What you'll need to succeed

To be considered for this progressive Finance Business Partner role, you will be part qualified/qualified CIMA/ACCA/ACA or qualified by experience with business partnering experience. Strong MS excel skills, effective communication skills to partner at all levels both internally/externally and with non-financial management, with the capacity to influence others. You will be accurate and numerate, willing to learn, and keen to develop further in your accounting career. Experience with SAP and within the manufacturing sector would be advantageous but not essential.
