The Trust

Barton Court Academy Trust (BCAT) is a multi-academy Trust which was established in 2017.

It currently consists of three secondary schools: Barton Court Grammar School, an 11-18 years, mixed selective school in the heart of Canterbury, rated “Good” with many outstanding features by Ofsted in February 2020; The Charles Dickens School, an 11-16 years mixed non-selective school in Broadstairs, rated “Good” by Ofsted in March 2023 and Barton Manor Free School, an 11–18 years non-selective mixed school in the heart of Canterbury which opened to Year 7 in September 2022 and as the school grows now has Y7 & 8 from September 2023.

Our School

The Charles Dickens School is a successful, over-subscribed, non-selective 11-16 school located in Broadstairs, Kent. We have a vision and a determination to provide our community with an excellent school and we are making great progress towards this. Our results in 2022 identified us as the most improved school in Kent (out of 101 secondary schools) and one of the most improved schools in the country, and our results in 2023 are similarly strong. Schools Week identified us as the 8thmost improved school in the country between 2019 and 2023, for schools with an above average proportion of Pupil Premium pupils. Our recent Ofsted Inspection in March 2023 graded the School "Good" in every category.

The Post

A dedicated and enthusiastic Temporary Teacher of Physical Education (maternity cover) is required for January 2025to teach at The Charles Dickens School.

The successful candidate should be highly qualified, dynamic and capable of facilitating excellent learning. This post offers an excellent opportunity to work within a strong, successful and supportive department and would suit an enthusiastic ECT or a more experienced professional looking to further their expertise. Preference for a female PE teacher exists to provide balance within the current team, however male teachers are welcome to apply.

Position: 1:1 Teaching Assistant

About the Role:

Randstad Education is looking for a committed and compassionate 1:1 Teaching Assistant to support a child with additional needs in a primary school setting. You will work closely with the classroom teacher, providing tailored support to ensure the pupil can fully engage in learning activities and reach their full potential. This is a rewarding role where you can make a real difference in a child's educational journey.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide 1:1 support to a pupil with specific learning needs, including adapting lessons and activities to their level.
• Assist with classroom tasks, ensuring the pupil is engaged and supported throughout the day.
• Help manage behaviour and provide emotional support where needed.
• Collaborate with the class teacher and SENCO to implement personalised learning strategies.
• Keep detailed records of the pupil's progress and communicate with staff and parents regularly.

Requirements:

• Previous experience working with children, especially in a 1:1 or SEN support capacity, is highly desirable.
• Patience, empathy, and strong communication skills.
• A flexible, positive attitude and a passion for supporting young learners.
• A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
