Your Role as Deputy Head of Facilities Management

If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you to join our team as The Deputy Head of Facilities Management at HMP Northumberland.
The Deputy Head of Facilities Management at HMP Northumberland plays a pivotal role in delivering a top-tier Facilities Management service to ensure the prison's security, effectiveness, and functionality on a daily basis. Reporting to the Head of Facilities Management, the deputy will step in when needed, overseeing the operational aspects of both Hard and Soft Services provided by in-house teams and external contractors. This includes contributing to major Asset Life Cycle, Capital Expenditure, and Business projects. Moreover, the role involves collaborating closely with the Head of FM to guarantee compliance with statutory regulations, planned maintenance schedules, and the successful execution of FM-led business initiatives.
The Deputy Head of Facilities Management also supports staff development, aids in strategic objectives, and deputises for the Head of Facilities Management when necessary. In essence, the position demands a strong focus on maintaining the prison's structural integrity, safety, and compliance with regulations, while efficiently managing budgets and resources.

The Ideal Candidate
Our Ideal Candidate would possess the following or similar:
- An experienced senior FM professional that is trained in Health and Safety to IOSH Level 2 standard and has extensive knowledge of Method Statements, Risk Assessments, Safe Systems of Work, Building, Electrical and Mechanical Regulations.
- Possess a BIFM Level 4 qualification or equivalent.
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, showing the ability to work with colleagues at all levels.
- Progressive, flexible, and dynamic approach to objectives.
- Experience of successfully managing people in a Total Facilities Management delivery model.
- Ability to analyse and resolve problems, develop opportunities, and implement innovate solutions/approaches.
- Demonstration of high performing teamwork, implementing initiatives and working on own judgement and decisions.
- Knowledge of or wiliness to learn BMS, CAFM and other in-house software, as well as having a sound understanding of Microsoft Packages.
