We have an exciting opportunity for a teacher of art to join a large and well-resourced curriculum team. Design technology and art are extremely popular at both GCSE and A Level, and we offer a wide range of subjects. Each subject area (product design, textiles, food, art, engineering, construction, creative technology, and child development) consists of at least 2 specialist rooms with a compliment of specialist resources as well as our own computer suite. The large curriculum team consists of experienced teachers and 3 technicians who will always offer help and guidance to make staff feel welcome and supported both within the team and the school.

We are looking for a driven and well-qualified (inclusive of ECT’s) teacher of art who, under the support and guidance of the Director of Design, Art, and Technology, will assist with the development of art in the school. We welcome innovative and creative ideas and enjoy giving art/DT teachers the autonomy to teach to their strengths whilst also contributing to their professional development. DT is a well-resourced and supported subject at Ralph Allen school, growing in popularity at both GCSE and A-level. The role of the Technician is wide ranging from ensuring equipment and machinery is maintained and safe to use; materials are prepared, and stock maintained; through to assisting teachers and students in the classroom and workshop. An ability to pro-actively anticipate teachers needs would be advantageous, as would employing your expertise in developing new projects.
The department has a broad range of equipment, and the successful candidate will need to feel as confident using a 3D printer and laser cutter as they do a bandsaw and lathe. Full training will be provided on all equipment, as will DATA Health and Safety training, for the successful candidate.
An interest in DT is required and although a DT or technical background would be advantageous, it is not essential as full training will be given.

What you’ll be doing

You'll also produce and analyse performance indicators (KPIs), conduct audits to ensure compliance, and resolve configuration-related issues or non-conformance matters. As part of the Configuration Management Team within Edvance / EPRe HPC Technical Direction, you will work closely with the Design Coordination Team, the Technical Director, and the deputy to drive key engineering and project objectives.


Who you are

You'll need an engineering degree or equivalent qualification, along with a solid understanding of EPR design and engineering processes. Your familiarity with UK laws, regulations, and nuclear industry best practices will be key, as will your ability to grasp complex technical subjects and provide accurate, clear analysis. Strong organisational and time management skills are essential to successfully manage multiple technical tasks and priorities.

In this role, excellent communication and people engagement skills are crucial. You'll be expected to build strong, collaborative relationships with both internal and external stakeholders, fostering teamwork and effective collaboration. Your leadership abilities will also be important, as you'll manage and guide teams, ensuring they meet high standards of performance and engagement.
