Details About This Specific Position:

• This role will be onsite in Dallas, TX - will be in the office 2-3 days a week
• Full-Time work during normal business hours

The Summer Associate, Finance & Accounting intern will be responsible for assisting a business finance team with various tasks, such as reporting, analysis, month-end close process, and monthly financial projections. The intern will need to create an analysis and present their work/findings to team leaders while also providing ad hoc analyses based on the needs of the team. Additionally, the intern will support in Accounting monthly reviews and reporting.

 This program will provide exposure to corporate Finance/Accounting and business leaders, and the cadence/process of reporting results, creating forecasts, and reviewing with the businesses. The intern will have the opportunity to enhance their Excel and PowerPoint skills, practice presentation skills, and learn how to communicate analyses/reports to Finance/Accounting leaders and non-Finance/Accounting partners.

 The program aims to provide the intern with the completion of needed Finance/Accounting analyses and reporting that help the team with workload, and training/exposure to potential future employee.

Minimum Experience:

• Undergraduate student working toward their degree and/or returning to school in the fall
• Degree focus in finance and/or accounting and has completed some finance/accounting courses preferable.
• Minimum of a 3.0 GPA

Skills Needed:

• Basic understanding of Corporate Finance & Accounting principles
• Proficient in using Microsoft products
• Advanced level of understanding in Microsoft Excel
• Advanced level of understanding in Microsoft PowerPoint

Job Title:             MMA Southwest Accounting Supervisor

Basic Function: 

We are looking for an experienced Accounting Supervisor to oversee general accounting operations by controlling and verifying our financial transactions.

Accounting Supervisor responsibilities include reconciling account balances and bank statements, maintaining general ledger, preparing month-end close procedures, and supporting various special projects. A successful Accounting Supervisor combines excellent analytical skills with a thorough knowledge of accounting principles, control environment, project management, and stakeholder management. The ideal candidate has also experience collaborating and/or managing a team of Accountants and Junior Accountants in a large company setting.

Accounting Supervisor duties also include ensuring accuracy and effectiveness in all of our accounting tasks.

 Job Scope:

•  Responsible for all aspects of monthly closing process including but not limited to:
  • Review and recommend modifications to systems and procedures
  • Drive appropriate revenue recognition
  • Verify, allocate, and post expenses to the appropriate departments
  • Meeting deadlines set by corporate team and local finance stakeholders
  • Calculation of producer and account executive compensation
  • Account and bank reconciliations
  • Balance sheet reviews
• Maintain a strong internal control environment and SOX compliance by identifying control gaps and working with audit and other stakeholders to overcome deficiencies and develop remediation plans.
• Achieves and maintains sufficient awareness of operating company risks, operational issues and challenges to allow for proactive intervention when required and provide detailed updates to senior management.
• Participate in the budget and forecasting process as required.
• Help producers and client managers with the timely collection of receivables and payables to carriers.
• Assist with systems implementations and enhancements with a focus on maintaining the integrity of financial data and processes and controls.
• Responsible for the acquisition life cycle, including detailed due diligence, timely integration, accuracy of financial statement reporting and review and execution of earnout payments, as required.
• Document and harmonize accounting policies and procedures to drive value within the Southwest Region.
• Sets clear targets that take account of differing priorities of stakeholders and holds others accountable for the quality of support and overall stakeholder satisfaction.
• Develop a strong accounting department which can support the outstanding growth of the business.

Requirements:

• Bachelors or Master’s degree in Accounting or Finance Required.
• Previous Supervisory or Managerial Experience Required (2 or more direct reports).
• Proficient in US GAAP and SOX requirements.
• 3+ Years’ Experience in Accounting.
• MS Office Suit Expertise required.
• CPA Preferred.

 Minimum Qualifications:

• Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. 
• Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities.
• Applied knowledge in the areas of communication, interpersonal relationship management, versatility and creativity.
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
