• Input into digital communications plans that fulfil broader communications objectives, working collaboratively with other Digital colleagues and wider Communications colleagues.

• Support with monitoring and reporting on social media accounts day-to-day.

Previous experience of the new Digital Associate in Communications:

• Lead criterion: Experience in creating and publishing website content, with an awareness of key accessibility requirements.

• Strong communication skills - verbal, written and presentation skills, including the ability to write clearly and concisely for digital channels (e.g. web pages, blogs, social media).

• Experience in creating social media content, including social media management tools.

• Experience in measuring and reporting the performance of digital campaigns, with insights for improvement.

As a Media Relations Manager within our Press Office Team, you will be responsible for protecting, building and enhancing the reputation of National Highways by providing strategic media handling advice to the organisation, liaising with the media, and providing a proactive and reactive media relations service in line with the communications strategy.

You should be an experienced communicator with a strong news sense and excellent judgement.

This role will be based from our Birmingham office - (40% office based) Some travel will also be required occasionally for team meetings or to facilitate media events within the region.

What you'll be leading on

• Delivering high quality written material, media briefings and communications activity to promote National Highways and enhance our reputation.
• Providing media handling advice, including developing and implementing communication plans to ensure that the most appropriate communication solutions and channels are being used.
• High profile and often complex issues which will require you to use your specialist expertise to achieve balanced and accurate coverage for National Highways.
• Responding to media enquiries and briefing spokespeople, maintaining effective forward planning, and delivering and managing media events/activities.
• Developing relationships with colleagues across the business and journalists, and coordinating activity with the Department for Transport and other external stakeholders.
• You will also participate in an out of hours duty rota to help ensure road users are informed about traffic conditions and to respond to media enquiries.

Marketing, Brand and Communications Create regular, engaging and diverse news stories about Birmingham Hospice for use in press releases, on the hospice website and social media channels. Liaise with colleagues, volunteers, patients and families to produce and publish case studies that dispel myths around hospice care. Support with delivery of the charitys communications plan including activity across internal and external channels. Work with marketing colleagues to plan and deliver campaigns such as Hospice Care Week, Dying Matters Awareness Week and Volunteers Week. Build strong relationships with external contacts including designers, printers, copywriters, local media outlets and PR agencies. Work with clinical colleagues to assist in promoting and marketing services to include the production of leaflets, event/training collateral, conference posters, video content and digital materials. Assist with the production of corporate publications such as annual reports, and award entries. Use approved key messages in all communications, ensuring appropriateness and consistency of language and terminology across all media. Ensure all marketing and promotional materials are branded, accurate, inclusive, appealing and of a high standard. Ensure that marketing materials are delivered on time and on budget. Deliver all work accurately ensuring materials are fully edited, proofread and signed off by the relevant department or project lead.
