Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service have a fantastic opportunity for a Digital, Data and Technology Development Manager to join our team on a full-time, permanent basis. In return, you will receive a competitive salary of £50,512 - £54,279 per annum.

About the role:
As our Digital, Data and Technology Development Manager, you will oversee an efficient and innovate digital function for the Service, ensuring the effective development, delivery and support of new and enhanced, integrated, modern Digital Systems and Services. As a Subject Matter expert within the development field you will lead the team in providing analysis, design and development using the most appropriate technologies.
Key responsibilities as our Digital, Data and Technology Development Manager:
Leading an effective development team, providing clear strategy for the Service with regards to development with established and new technologies
To challenge the ways in which the Fire Service approaches the designs of new Services taking a continual improvement approach to developing Best Practice and process improvements
Line manage the Development team, ensuring that workloads are allocated and prioritised appropriately, work plans agreed, expectations are clearly communicated, and feedback is regularly provided
Actively lead relationship management key stakeholders ensuring effective, and efficient systems are in place and the required services are delivered on time and in full, by KPI’s and SLA’s
Lead and advise in the maintenance and continuous improvement of development technologies, processes and integration in collaboration with colleagues across the team and the wider Service
To own and continuously improve the Application Development process within DSFRS, adopting industry best practice where appropriate to maximise productivity
To act as a mentor and coach to the Development team, providing experience and SME across the DDAT Department, in order to propagate Best Practice in all areas of Service Development activity.
What we are looking for in our Digital, Data and Technology Development Manager:
Strong team leadership, with the ability to effectively mentor and motivate others
Good knowledge and experience working knowledge of modern development tools and technologies, including but not limited to M365 and JAVA
Knowledge and understanding of project management methodologies to ensure applications are delivered successfully and on time
Ability to work with partner organisations at an operational level to identify and exploit opportunities for collaboration on Service Development
Clear understanding of security and confidentiality of information, whether computer based or otherwise in line with legislation
Proven ability in the development and implementation of work plans to deliver the Development teams strategy for the Service
Excellent organisational and planning skills and the ability to ensure deadlines are meet
High level of communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively across all levels
