This is an extremely painful procedure and the client has specific pain medication prescribed to help with this. There will also always be a carer present who knows the client well to provide him with emotional support and reassurance throughout the process. This task is currently completed by his Dad who understandably finds it very difficult and, now his son is older would like to be able to train up someone else to support with this task. We are looking for:

• someone who is committed long term as training could take up to 6 months before the person is confident in doing this task alone.
• someone who is able to focus on the task at hand and remain detached from their feeling and emotions.
• We are looking to recruit a small team of carers on 2 week rolling rota covering Monday to Sunday, Days and Nights (depending on availability).You must be able to work alternate weekends.

The strategic responsibility of the post-holder is to work as part of a Triumvirate to support the delivery of the strategic direction, clinical leadership and vision, to enable the Directorate to meet its objectives as set out in the corporate strategy and will have a prime role in the provision and development of services. In delivering that responsibility the post-holder is expected to demonstrate expertise across the full range of relevant competencies as set out by the Faculty of Public Health (Appendix 1) and where required, take responsibility for resolving operational issues. In negotiation with the DPH (and/or the council), the post-holder may be asked to take on responsibilities that are underpinned by any of the FPH competencies. Post-holders will be expected to maintain both the general expertise as well as develop topic-based expertise as required by the DPH and will be expected to deputise for the DPH as and when required. The range of duties expected of the post-holder include: (a) Overseeing a comprehensive clinical governance programme. This should include quality improvement, regular reviews of practice and outcomes and adherence to local and national advice, guidelines, recommendations, audits, and standards. (b) Ensuring that risk is effectively managed within the Directorate, using appropriate risk assessments and that appropriate steps are taken to mitigate these risks. (c) Ensuring that all incidents, complaints, and claims are reviewed, where appropriate, ideally investigated, and appropriate actions delivered in a timely manner. This work will be supported by the Quality and Safety Team. (d) Ensuring that all clinical staff within the Directorate operate within clear lines of responsibility and accountability and that poor performance is identified and managed appropriately. (e) Agreeing with each Consultant and SAS doctors within the Directorate, the arrangement of their duties, including fixed and on-call commitments, and incorporating these into annual job plans with clear objectives and KPIs. (f) Ensuring that each Consultant and SAS doctor has an annual appraisal in accordance with Trust policy and participates in GMC/GDC/GPhC revalidation. (g) Ensuring that all staff undergo annual appraisal, complete required mandatory training, and participate in revalidation where required. (h) Ensuring that the Directorate delivers high quality undergraduate and postgraduate education and training in line with University and Y&H Deanery standards. (i) Ensuring that the Directorate delivers on the Trust response to national workforce standards such as the New Deal on Junior Doctors Hours and European Working Time regulations. (j) Ensuring that there is appropriate provision for Continuing Professional Development for clinical staff in the Directorate. (k) Ensuring that all targets set by external regulators are understood and met, including the delivery of the Constitutional Standards. (l) Establishing staff engagement action plans in conjunction with the Directorate Management Team. (m) Ensuring that key staff within the Directorate are given the necessary management training and development to perform current or future roles. (n) Engaging in succession planning, with particular reference to the identification and development of colleagues with an interest in clinical leadership. (o) Participation in the recruitment process for Lead Clinicians and other managerial posts within the Directorate. (p) Acting as the immediate line manager for the Lead Clinicians within the Directorate. This will include supporting their development as clinical leaders and to deliver the requirements of their own roles. (q) Agreeing with the Chief Operating Officer annual Directorate objectives and setting annual objectives for other Directorate staff as appropriate. (r) Representing the Directorate at Trust level and with external agencies. (s) Delivery of GIRFT/NICE programmes. The Safety, Health and Environmental Advisor will assist the senior management in ensuring the organisation is a safe environment for all in which to work and reside. Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

Implement Health and Safety policy across the site, and maintain Safety, Health and Environmental policy, and training policy, as recommended by the Headquarters.
Maintain policy and procedures in order to meet the requirements and objectives set by the Army’s Safety & Environmental Management System.
Be the Radiation Safety Officer in accordance with Management of Radiation Protection in Defence.
Ensure the establishments Safety, Health and Environmental Manual is updated to match legislation and that policy is complied with by all personnel and visitors.
Conduct all Safety, Health and Environmental internal audits and ensure all work requirements reported from inspections are actioned.
Ensure bi-annual Safety, Health and Environmental meetings take place with relevant stakeholders.
Ensure that all Occurrences (accidents, incidents, near misses and dangerous occurrences) are reported and investigated.
Carry out surveillance of occupational health, including work related stress, noise assessments and monitor areas where excessive noise may affect the health, safety and welfare of personnel.
Deliver Safety Health and Environmental training programmes and be responsible for the delivery of induction, continuation, job-specific and refresher training for all staff at every level as appropriate.
