The Adult Inpatient Psychological service provides psychological input to service users admitted to hospital in acute mental health crisis. Service users present with a wide range of mental health issues, and come from diverse backgrounds. Whilst there are challenges to working with service users presenting in acute states, there are also opportunities for gaining clinical experience working with a broad range of clinical presentations. We, the Adult Inpatient Psychological Services team aim to understand the impact of trauma and adverse experiences on an individuals crisis presentation within the hospital setting. We work together with our MDT colleagues and wider Care unit colleagues to ensure our Service Users experience purposeful inpatient admissions and timely discharges. Assist the Assistant Head and Heads of Year to maintain, monitor and track student data e.g. attendance, behaviour. Review progress of students (individual and groups) in relation to targets.
Support student attendance and punctuality procedures by managing the late gate on a rota basis, making attendance calls, attending meetings with the inclusion service, home visits to ensure excellent attendance for all students.
Organise and participate in activities and events relevant to the year group or Key Stage such as transition visits (to primary schools or sixth form colleges), parent information evenings and celebration events.
Support the duty-head system, investigate breaches of discipline, deal with bullying incidents, record details and outcomes of all investigations and liaise with families and carers and external agencies where appropriate.
To support and supervise the school’s Internal Suspension Room in accordance with the school’s behaviour policy expectations on a rota basis.
Complete required paperwork associated with individuals and groups in a timely manner.
Support the work of the wider pastoral team as required including the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL), the attendance officer and/or the Head of Year to ensure best outcomes for students.
Liaise with teaching and support staff, the SENDCo and other relevant professionals and outside agencies, providing information and contributing to the development of suitable support strategies for individual students according to their needs.
Support the role of parents/carers in students’ engagement and organise and contribute to meetings.
Support the emotional well-being of all students and provide praise, motivation and encouragement.
Promote and support the development of students’ self-reliance, self-esteem and emotional resilience.Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead:
Undertake safeguarding training and ensure this remains up to date in order to act as a point of contact for safeguarding and child protection referrals as may be required by the DSL.

About MCR Pathways
MCR Pathways is a transformational secondary school mentoring and talent development programme supporting vulnerable young people experiencing disadvantage to realise their full potential through education. The MCR Pathways programme is now being launched across Surrey and we are recruiting a Coordinator to implement the programme within our school.
The successful candidates will be based at The Beacon School, but supported by local, regional and nationally based MCR teams. Within this role, you will be an integral part of the school community, liaising with education colleagues and external stakeholders, and supporting the delivery of the programme to young people.

For this role, you will need to be passionate and driven to ensure all disadvantaged students are supported to find, grow and use their individual talents. Ultimately to ensure that their education outcomes, employment choices and life chances are maximised.
You will have experience of working with young people, be highly organised and infectiously ambitious for all the young people you work with.
You will need to be able to demonstrate excellent organisational skills, management of interventions and mentoring allocations across the school.

1. Role and responsibilities of Local Committee Members
Whether a parent member, a general member, or a staff member, our Local Committee members bring valuable information from a variety of perspectives to help make strategic decisions about the school as a whole. The Local Committee is a committee of the trust board and should feel part of the wider structure we have in place for governance, to provide assurance to the trustee directors that every child in our schools is learning, achieving and flourishing in a safe environment.
The role of a LC member is largely a thinking and questioning role; they are not charged with the operational issues in managing a school day-to-day but are required to oversee its long term development in conjunction with the trust. LCs rely on a variety of experiences and perspectives. No specific prior knowledge is required and the trust seeks volunteers with a range of skills and backgrounds. Training and support are available for new and existing members and is free of charge. 
In order to perform this role well, a local committee member is expected to: 
get to know the school, including by visiting the school occasionally during school hours, and gain a good understanding of the school’s strengths and weaknesses; 
attend induction training and regular relevant training and development events; 
attend meetings (LC meetings and other events) and read all the papers before the meeting; 
act in the best interest of all the pupils of the school; and 
behave in a professional manner, as set down in the Trust code of conduct including acting in strict confidence and adhering to the Nolan Principles – leadership, selflessness, objectivity, openness, integrity, honesty and accountability.
