As our Supplies Administration Apprentice, you will be busy assisting the Finance, Procurement and Stores team in the procurement of goods and services and the distribution of supplies to the whole of Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service. You will undertake various administrative duties, including ordering and receipting goods, arranging returns, payment of invoices, liaising with suppliers and ensuring accurate records are kept and stored in line with statutory requirements.
Other duties will include assisting with the issue of uniform and personal protective equipment to new and existing firefighters and staff, issuing general stock items to headquarters and our stations across Lancashire, answering enquiries from staff or queries from suppliers on a range of issues in a timely and professional manner, and assisting with input on, and maintenance of our stock control system amongst other things.
The successful applicant will have 5 GCSEs (A-C or 4-9), or equivalent and preferably including maths and English language. Applicants who do not hold maths and English qualifications must undertake Functional Skills tests as part of the apprenticeship.
You will be expected to have great interpersonal, written and oral communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a small team. With high standards of accuracy and numeracy, you will be familiar with Microsoft Office packages, including Word, Excel and Outlook and be willing to develop new skills and knowledge. The ability to plan and organise yourself and your workload in order to meet deadlines is essential, as is the ability to keep yourself and others safe in the workplace using your understanding of the importance of health and safety and inclusivity.
The apprenticeship agreement is for approximately 16 months and is for completion of Business Administration Level 3. It will be undertaken within the workplace and on-line via Zoom and/or Microsoft Teams, with an on-line coaching session taking place every 4 weeks to assess and support progress.
