Social Worker, Duties include but are not limited to:

• Uses a high level of skill in assessing and treating the complicated psychosocial problems of Veterans referred to the Behavioral Health Clinic.
• The incumbent completes thorough psychosocial assessments as part of the consult process when the Veteran is initially referred to the Behavioral Health Clinic; other social work services include short-term, solution focused counseling with individuals and families who may be in crisis, supportive counseling, and referral for resources and benefits,
• Utilizes a high level of skill and expertise to establish and maintain effective therapeutic relationships with Veterans in the Behavioral Health Clinic.
• The incumbent works independently with Veterans who are experiencing a wide range of complicated medical, psychiatric, emotional, behavioral, and psychosocial problems.
• Completes thorough psychosocial assessments to determine the psychosocial functioning and needs of Veterans.
• The incumbent must be able to utilize this assessment in facilitating the creation of a recovery focused treatment plan for attainment of the highest level of independence that is possible and practicable.
• Create a treatment plan that is in collaboration with the Veteran and with the Veteran's permission family members/significant others, and members of the outpatient treatment team to assure a patient centered plan with achievable goals.
• Must possess a working knowledge and experience in use of medical and mental health diagnoses, disabilities, and treatment procedures, including acute, chronic and traumatic illnesses, common medications and their effects/side effects, and medical terminology.
• Must possess knowledge and ability to independently implement treatment modalities, provide counseling and/or supportive groups for Veterans and families within the scope of their licensure.
• Maintains general knowledge of Veteran's benefits and services, community resources, and process for making appropriate referrals to community and other governmental programs or agencies.
• Provides consultation and education to Veterans and their families and facilitates referrals based upon Veterans' needs and eligibility.
• Serves as a liaison between Veterans and/or their families and VA and community resources to ensure thorough delivery of services.
• When appropriate and feasible, the Social Worker will educate and encourage the Veteran to advocate on his/her own behalf, thus fostering a sense of independence and empowerment.
• Provides education related to VA and community resources, entitlements, Advance Directives/Living Will and will refer Veterans and family members/significant others to the appropriate interdisciplinary team member for identified health education needs.
• Provides consultation to other treatment team and staff members regarding psychosocial needs of Veterans and/or their families and the impact of the identified psychosocial problems on the Veteran's health care planning, compliance with treatment, and discharge planning.
• Must possess and demonstrate ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing with people from varied backgrounds.
• Assures timely and accurate documentation, using appropriate notes and templates as defined within the behavioral health care line.

Starting at $62,620 Per Year (GS 9-11)

This Supervisory Transportation Security Officer position is located at Buffalo Niagara International Airport (BUF), Transportation Security Administration, Department of Homeland Security (DHS). As a Supervisory Transportation Security Officer (STSO), you will be responsible for mitigating actual and potential threats against civil aviation and other transportation modes. You will also perform and supervise in your area of specialty, which may include Transportation Security Officers (TSOs) and Lead Transportation Security Officers (LTSOs) in the performance of all security functions related to the screening of people, property, and cargo through the use and application of procedures, techniques, and technology. In addition, you will make independent, security-based decisions using intelligence, critical thinking, experience, observation, and passenger engagement. Typical duties include, but are not limited to:

• Conducting and supervising subordinate employees in conducting pre-board security screening of persons, their carry-on and checked baggage/cargo.
• Overseeing screening checkpoint(s) and/or baggage screening operations on a day-to-day basis to include equipment, personnel, and the scheduling and rotation of personnel.
• Participating in the development of new policies and procedures, and recommending changes in policy and procedures based on observation of work, as required.
• Participating in the development of strategic planning initiatives, workforce planning, succession planning initiatives, and other reports and documents for TSA and superiors.
• Engaging in continuous development of critical thinking skills necessary to mitigate security threats by identifying, evaluating, and applying appropriate situational options and approaches.
• Preparing various types of communications such as morning briefings, checkpoint logs, reports, and documents that are germane to the work performed.
• Developing incident information and reports for Law Enforcement Officers (LEOs) and superiors.
• Serving as a member of the National Screening Force.

Supervisory/Managerial duties include serving as a first line supervisor for the organization. This includes, but is not limited to: assigning work, setting priorities, and reviewing and evaluating work and performance of subordinates; approving leave; coaching and developing employees; recommending corrective or disciplinary actions; resolving routine problems that typically impact the objectives of the organizational unit; when required, coordinating with customers outside the immediate organization; supervising employees performing special program work; and serving as the supervisor-in-charge of an assigned airport or other transportation terminal.

NOTE: Employees occupying frontline positions, i.e., individuals performing security screening operations and occupying positions that involve contact with the traveling public on a regular and recurring basis, are required to wear TSA approved and issued personal protective equipment (PPE). This requirement is in place to address the COVID-19 pandemic and comply with Executive Order 13991 and TSA's Pandemic and Emerging Infectious Disease and Workforce Protection Plan. RRTs will be responsible for the following assignments with minimal clinical supervision from an RRT at the full performance level in both inpatient and/or outpatient settings. Essential functions may change from time to time to reflect the current trends within the field of respiratory therapy, and to meet the cardio-pulmonary needs of the patients served.

Major duties include but are not limited to:

• Completes patient assessment through direct contact, chart review and other means as appropriate and share the information with health care team members.
• Uses accepted measuring/monitoring tools for determining plan of care.
• Performs emergency and acute respiratory therapy procedures in accordance with hospital and respiratory department guidelines.
• Actively participates in departmental quality assurance and hospital-wide organizational performance improvement activities.
• Maintains clinical and professional competency based upon established standards of practice.
• Assembles, checks, and corrects malfunctions and performs quality controls on respiratory therapy equipment and technology-based equipment.
• Promotes a customer-centered environment, taking personal responsibility for problem solving and effective courteous communication with patients, their families, medical staff, students and co-workers.
• Provides patient care, which is appropriate to the cultural, cognitive, emotional, and chronological maturation needs of the adult and/or geriatric patient.
• A Respiratory Therapist will demonstrate the ability to utilize computer-based technologies, software and programs.
