Foxwood Academy is a friendly 4-18 special Academy in Nottinghamshire, we were graded good by Ofsted in October 2017 and again in March 2023. We have recently merged with a very local multi academy trust and see ourselves as a truly inclusive school. As we build our new school, our neighbouring secondary school are likely to start building their new school making the overall investment in our ‘learning village’ one of the biggest educational investments in the country. Our students needs are varied but in general we cater for children and young people with moderate and severe learning difficulties. Many of our children and young people have a diagnosis of Autism and a proportion have additional speech and language needs. Many of our children have spent time in mainstream settings but move to Foxwood for a more specialised environment and curriculum.
Our children and young people are amazing, we consider special education to be the best kept secret in education and so we actively welcome applicants from both mainstream and special sectors. Training is available and many of our teachers and support staff come from a variety of educational backgrounds. We would be keen to appoint an additional Senco but are not specifically looking for a teacher with the Senco qualification.
Progression for students through the Academy is via different pathways to meet the diverse needs of the children. The Preparing for Adulthood (PfA) framework is used as a part of our curriculum and includes outstanding provision in preparing young people for employment and their futures. Employed by Nott’s SVS Services, working in partnership with Nottingham University Hospitals Trust, this is an exciting opportunity to provide crisis support worker support to children, young people and their families who are accessing services at the Nottinghamshire Hub of the EMCYPSAS and across the East Midlands.

Salary

Hours of work

The experienced Children and Young Person’s Crisis Support Worker will provide sensitive, client-centered, non–judgmental support to survivors, aged 17 and under, of sexual violence. This will include providing advocacy support for clients during forensic medical examinations.

Responsibilities

To work as part of the initial response team of clinicians, forensic physicians, police officers and EMCYPSAS management team to deliver a high standard of service for clients referred to EMCYPSAS by the Police or who self-refer.
To be responsible for thorough forensic cleaning of the forensic suite following a forensic medical examination.
To provide cover for EMCYPSAS helpline and Email contacts, answering calls and responding to emails, acting as a first point of contact, providing information and support on topics relating to sexual violence to clients, families and carers and professionals who call the helpline or send emails and responding to the needs of clients who self-refer.
Essential experience, qualifications and skills

Evidence of relevant professional experience working with children and young people (CYP) in a supporting role.
Knowledge of issues experienced by children and young people and in particular in relation to sexual violence and safeguarding.
Experience of working in a multi-agency setting and partnerships working with a wide range of statutory and voluntary agencies.

Key results from the job holder To receive and accurately record onto electronic systems all related data for new and follow up attendances to Walk in Centre. Update and revise information where necessary. Liaise with personnel from appropriate external agency to obtain patient information as and when required, ensuring confidentiality is maintained at all times. Decide based on the patients presentation and information provided and using your initiative, liaise with / summon Triage Nurse where concern exists over the condition of the patient. Effectively deal with all enquiries, via telephone and face to face with regard to patients, staff, internal and external agencies, with the exception of medical advice. Responsible for scanning of patient documentation and complete full audit as appropriate. Booking of appointments as appropriate ensuring all relevant information is input onto electronic systems. All clinic outcomes and procedures are recorded in a timely manner. Forward patients documents / details to appropriate departments for follow up appointments for example, fracture clinics, ENT, ophthalmology and physiotherapy. Ensure all GP discharge letters are forwarded appropriately adhering to Caldicott Guidelines Planning and Organisational Duties To plan and organise own workload whilst assisting colleagues to meet the Departmental needs of the service. To support and evaluate changes to working practice whilst actively seeking ways to improve the service. Maintain an effective filing system within the office area. Maintain staffing levels in reception area by contacting staff to cover shifts in emergencies during out of hours Communications and Key Working Relationships Maintain daily contact with colleagues working within the team to ensure priorities are met and targets achieved Regularly update management team regarding outstanding issues, potential areas of concern and any other associated problem. Use multiple systems in order to process requests and communicate information to job related stakeholders. Use initiative when dealing with general public in order to manage people expectations and overcome barriers. Work effectively as part of the multi-disciplinary team.
