Manages a grant portfolio within assigned program area(s) and conducts the day-to-day grant management for the grants within the grant portfolio.

As a Health Scientist, you will:

• Serve as a recognized expert in health sciences for the agency with responsibility for developing policy and objectives, appraising programs, and initiating requirements for health science studies.
• Design, oversee, implement, and conduct scientific surveys/studies or projects to identify and solve health system related problems.

As a Health Communications Specialist you will:

• Plan, apply, and evaluate various communication science and marketing techniques.
• Ensure that health communication activities are based on accepted theory, principles, methods, and practices.
• Develop and manage contracts and task orders and the required documentation that supports the health communication program and projects.
• Provide consultation and technical assistance to internal and external groups concerning health communication and marketing programs, projects, and strategies.

Major Duties include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Performs work related to the collection, organization and/or tracking of information in support of the Personnel Security Program. The Personnel Security Program includes the processes of initiating, reviewing, and approving background cases for release to the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) in compliance with policies relating to completion of suitability investigations for Federal employees and others requiring background investigations for non-sensitive and public trust positions.
• Review position risk sensitivity levels as full assistant to the Personnel Security Specialist. Assemble position descriptions and functional statements for the Personnel Security Specialist for review.
• For pre-employment processes, serves as the initial point of contact for new appointees including but not limited to paid or without compensation employees, volunteers, students, residents, and contractors.
• Initiates, reviews and releases appointees background investigations in the Office of Personnel Managements Electronic Questionnaires for Investigations Processing (e-QIP) system or in conjunction with the VA- Adjudication Center (VA-AC).
• Regularly monitors the status of specific pending items, compiles data to produce reports, follows up to determine status and records results.
• Maintains logs of current employees who are in public trust positions and ensures reinvestigations are initiated, reviewed and released using e-QIP within the required timeframe as per policy. Works closely with the VA-AC to monitor the progress of
  investigations when applicable.
• As needed, works with applicants who may be experiencing difficulties with completion of electronic forms related to the background screening process.
• Takes and transmits electronic fingerprints for appointees or when the FBI returns fingerprints unclassifiable for various reasons. Only in rare instances when there is machine malfunction, manually takes fingerprints for the purpose of background investigations from OPM.
• Enters appropriate data in required databases related to an appointee's suitability from a wide variety of sources, i.e., fingerprint/badge log, notification(s) of investigation(s) scheduled by OPM, requests by OPM for additional information, receipt/disposition of results of both Special Agreement Checks (SAC's) and National Agency Check with Inquiry (T1's) or higher.
• In conjunction with the Personnel Security Specialist and/or lead/supervisor, presents training/briefings for supervisors, managers, and employees related to various aspects of the Personnel Security Program.
• Requests information from various law enforcement agencies and courts. Assures that the approving official is kept informed of these actions.
• Reviews applicant's data ensuring that the submitted information matches the demographic data and that all required information has been provided.

What will I do in this position if hired?

In this position, you will serve as a Videographer for Region Four in Atlanta, GA.

Typical assignments include:

• Providing visual imaging and graphic support to region 4 for use by FEMA, other agencies, news media organizations, academia, and the public to communicate disaster impacts, response and recovery actions, and lessons learned.
• Documentation and field-level management of visual images of past, present and future R4 disaster events.

Every FEMA employee has regular and recurring emergency management responsibilities, though not every position requires routine deployment to disaster sites. All positions are subject to recall around the clock for emergency management operations, which may require irregular work hours, work at locations other than the official duty station, and may include duties other than those specified in the employee's official position description. Travel requirements in support of emergency operations may be extensive in nature (weeks to months), with little advance notice, and may require employees to relocate to emergency sites with physically austere and operationally challenging conditions.

This announcement is for a position as a CORE (Cadre of On-Call Response/Recovery Employee). CORE employees are full-time employees hired to directly support the response and recovery efforts related to disasters. Employees are hired under the Robert T. Stafford Act and are excluded from the provisions of title 5, United States Code, governing jobs in the competitive service. They can be hired under a streamlined process instead of a competitive process. After three years of continuous service, Stafford Act employees may be granted competitive eligibility to apply for permanent full-time positions at FEMA.

This position will be hired into a temporary 4-year, excepted service appointment. Appointments may be renewed based on workload, funding, and supervisory approval.

This position has promotion potential to the IC09. Promotions are dependent on your ability to perform the duties at a higher level, successful performance review displaying at least one year of experience at the lower grade, the continuing need for an employee assigned to the higher level, and management approval.

What does an Operations Coordinator do? As an Operations Coordinator, you will provide and coordinate a variety of complex legal support functions and administrative duties, as well as provide technical advice and guidance to a team of support staff located in assigned Post of Duty (POD). The Operations Coordinator will serve as a leader to the team that provides administrative and clerical assistance to the first and second line managers, attorneys, and paralegals within the cluster. Each POD serves a mix of different legal divisions, each with its particular case processing needs, rules and other specialized considerations. Additional duties include, but are not limited to the following:

As an Operations Coordinator, you will:

• Provide technical assistance and solutions to problems referred by support staff regarding Chief Counsel procedures and requirements for processing legal documents and providing legal support for cases.
• Prepare a variety of administrative and legal documents such as cover letters, correspondence, reports, pleadings, and briefs that include tables of contents, tables of citations, statutory appendices, and financial and statistical tables.
• Ensure all information on security policies and guidance is conveyed to employees, and that security incidents are documented and reported in accordance with appropriate, rules, policies, procedures, etc.; provide awareness training to computer users and conduct random checks to verify security procedures.
• Develop and maintain effective relationships with managers and employees at all levels of the IRS organization for the purpose of supporting the legal services provided by the Office of Chief Counsel.
• Handle or assist in the administration of the transit subsidy program for all staff (legal and non-legal) located at the POD.
• Monitor the status and progress of work, makes day-to-day adjustments in accordance with established priorities, and obtain assistance from the Office or others when problems arise. Assist in the arrangement of training in the use of office automation software packages and remains up to date on the use of office systems (manual and automated), software and technology.
