CMA Executive is delighted to be retained on an exclusively basis, to support this ambitious, longstanding and hugely successful privately owned construction business, as we seek to appoint a new Group Finance Director.
The Finance Director is a key member of the leadership team who will contribute to the strategic direction and ongoing growth of the business, as they strive to hit the magic £100m mark (both organically and targeted M&A). Working closely with the founder, a dynamic entrepreneur, who is always seeking push the boundaries within his sector, whilst retaining core family values, a sustainable approach to their activities and a focus on environmental integrity.
What will the Group Finance Director role involve?
• Assist in formulating the company's future direction and strategy and supporting tactical initiatives.
• Challenging and supporting business leaders, by providing detailed reporting, analysis, commercial insights, and recommendations to influence key decisions.
• Providing financial modelling and decision support on major investment decisions, ensuring they are properly evaluated.
• Continually develop the financial organisation with the structures, automated processes, systems and management tools needed for growth.
• Own the annual and long-term fiscal budgets and monitor performance, providing high quality variance analysis of performance against them.
• Ensuring effective cash forecasting, control and planning.
• Managing relationships with the external stakeholders.
Suitable Candidate for the Group Finance Director vacancy:
• Candidates will ideally be CIMA/ACCA/ACA qualified and have experience of working in a similar sector (preferably construction), held a well-rounded finance role and used to leading a finance team.
• Self-motivated and entrepreneurial, enjoying being part of a team to further develop an exciting, fast growing company.
• A strategic thinker, with strong analytical skills to develop business models and consistently question and further develop structures and processes.
• Resilient and pragmatic leader, who reacts well to change, stays positive in the face of challenge and thrives in a fast-paced environment.
• A confident and clear communicator, both written and verbal, who provides solutions rather than problem statements
• A hands-on and results oriented team player, willing to “roll-up the sleeves” and get involved in the detail of operational execution to achieve the desired outcomes.
• Operates with a growth-mindset, comfortable taking decisions in fast paced situations when all the facts might not be available (“80:20” rather than 100% perfection)
• Comfortable in agile, high-performance environments, delivering to deadlines and is able to prioritize work accordingly
• A passionate learner who proactively shares knowledge, ideas and feedback to continuously improve the partner and employee experience.
