DUTIES CONTINUED UNDER EDUCATION

• Serves as a Child and Youth Services (CYS) Assistant Director of a CYS Program with responsibility for assisting the supervisor in the operation of an assigned CYS program IAW all applicable regulations and standards.
• Provides program oversight and accountability for the performance of assigned staff and the safety and well being of children and youth IAW DoD, Army and local policies and standards.
• Assists in maintaining DoD/Army certification for assigned program areas, and helps ensure program achieves and retains national accreditation or Army equivalent and maintains accreditation/Army equivalent standards.
• Provides appropriate staff professional recognition and/or disciplinary action. Conducts written observations of staff during all hours of operation, and evaluates employees based on established performance standards.

Major duties include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Shares fully in the duties, responsibilities, and authorities of the Chief and must assist support the Chief of SPS in establishing and maintaining a methodical and efficient sterile processing program consistent with consumer demands.
• Must establish and maintain an accurate medical, dental and surgical tracking system, which details specific preventive maintenance performed and equipment availability for patient care use.
• Will plan, organize, direct, train and coordinate all activities associated with a comprehensive sterile processing service.
• Responsible for the collection, receipt, and decontamination of all used soiled medical supplies, surgical instruments, and medical equipment. Decontamination processing requires the specific knowledge to determine what specific mean are utilized to accomplish cleaning, disinfecting and/or pre-sterilization of complex diagnostic medical/surgical equipment, implantable devices, and medical apparatus.
• Accomplishes the inspection, assembly, packaging and terminal sterilization of all medical surgical instrumentation sets, implantable devices, and packs them for use throughout the Medical Center, Operating Room and specialty clinics. It requires knowledge of sterilization methods, operation of the sterilizers and interpretation of biological testing which is of utmost importance.
• Responsible for ensuring the distribution area performs a major role in getting the correct Reusable Medical Devices (RMD) to users and assuring that these supplies are in the correct condition, quality, and location for use.
• Utilizes appropriate inventory management techniques. Coordinates with the personnel that procure SPS' supplies, analyzes usage patterns, problem solves and coordinates inventory activities with secondary supply systems.
• Plans, develops, directs, and maintains a Quality Assurance program ensuring product quality assurance through random sampling, biological testing, and product assessment. Assures the patient's needs are the driving force, places the emphasis on process management and undertaking improvement efforts.

Duties of the RN Assistant Chief of SPS include, but are not limited to:

The US Surgical Marketing Director- Core Cataract would support the delivery of incremental, upstream innovation to drive growth for the US Region in conjunction with Global Franchise.  Direct day-to-day management of the businesses, including development of 4 Ps (Product, Price, Place & Promotion), partnering with key stakeholders to drive growth, and managing business results (performance reporting and indicated actions).  Oversee annual budget planning process to ensure adequate funding for all programs in portfolio.  Lead development of professional and patient (if applicable) marketing strategy to build awareness, product differentiation, and surgeon / customer preference in Fort Worth, TX.

Primary Responsibilities:

•Conducting research to define targeted customer segments and determine the key values that drive buying behavior

 •Developing product/brand positioning, associated marketing themes, and media channels that align with target customer demographics

•Developing and implementing marketing strategies/plans and overseeing development and distribution of marketing materials Product/Brand Management (P&L/Revenue Accountability) •Identifying market opportunities, translating opportunities into product design, and driving branding/marketing strategies that result in a successful product/brand launch

 •Managing the product/brand P&L (e.g., budgeting, expenditures, profitability, ROI etc.)

•Partnering with product development and marketing teams to ensure that customer needs/values are incorporated into product design, branding, and marketing approaches

Key Requirements/Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree or Equivalent years of directly related experience (or high school +18 yrs; Assoc.+14 yrs; M.S.+7 yrs; PhD+6 yrs) 
• The ability to fluently read, write, understand, and communicate in English 
• 10 Years of Relevant Experience 
• 6 Years of Demonstrated Leadership

Other Responsibilities:

Drive Peer to Peer strategy at meetings / congresses and through media (print, digital and social) to drive key messages to differentiate brands and increase market share and sales of surgical products.

Lead teams who create sales assets to create differentiation and product demand with surgeons, ASCs and Hospitals.

Co-develop strategy with Medical Affairs to develop clinical data to demonstrate value, differentiate Alcon technologies from competitors and expand product claims.

Partner with Sales and Operations Planning to ensure accurate forecasts to meet market demands while limiting excess inventory and obsolescence expense.

Ensure full utilization of Sales Management resources to keep in touch with Field and Corporate Sales issues regarding product portfolio.

As Associate Director Clinical QA, you will be trusted to provide input and assist in establishing the vision and strategic direction for Clinical R&D activities in the R&D, QA, GCP, GLP and Medical Safety Operations Groups at our Main Campus in Fort Worth, TX.

POSITION PURPOSE

• Provides input and assist in establishing the vision and strategic direction for Clinical R&D activities as part of the R&D QA GCP, GLP and Medical Safety Operations Group.
• Provides Clinical QA oversight to ensure that global Clinical Operations activities conducted by Alcon for its medical devices and pharmaceutical products are in compliance with applicable regulations, guidelines and/ or quality standards.
• Manages the Good Clinical Practice (GCP) audit program across all Alcon franchises to assure clinical related activities are conducted according to Alcon and quality standards and applicable regulations with high degree independence.  

In this role, a typical day will include:

• Provides leadership and sound business ethics in the interpretation and implementation of global GxP compliance programs, computer system and/or software validation and related services and compliance training while ensuring Clinical QA independent assessments.
• Supports clinical research and development activities for all Alcon franchises and Technology Platforms to maximize standardization and compliance.
• Advises senior management of the need for corrective and preventive actions with a key advisory role in the development of action plans and monitoring of effectiveness of action plans as a result of internal and/or external Regulatory audits.
• Ensures senior management awareness of compliance issues impacting regulatory acceptability, by appropriately escalating as per quality risk management.
• Provides support to relevant functions on proper identification and escalation of quality related issues.
• Trends, interprets and presents compliance data and metrics according to worldwide legal and regulatory requirements and Alcon standards.
• Drives/facilitates projects in collaboration with stakeholders to evaluate and or implement quality/compliance improvement initiatives.
• Leads or support cross-functional teams to evaluate impact of process changes to systems and related processes, to research best practices, determine solutions and manage change.
• Develops unique approaches to promote and instill a culture of quality and compliance.
• Provides coaching, and aid in the development of RDQA Clinical staff and business partners.
• Provides consultation and education including, but not limited to interpretation of global regulations and guidelines such as GCP, US FDA EU MDR, ISO Standards, etc.
• Authors or reviews & approves documentation including but not limited to audit schedule, plans and reports, documents associated with regulatory submissions, notes to file, study protocols, document templates, plans and reports, and clinical evaluation documents.
• Leads and supports the investigation of deviations and other quality issues detected from any source e.g., monitoring and data management, trends, signals, etc. 
• Provides guidance, review, and approval of associated deviations (NCI, CAPAs and Actions) and evaluates effectiveness.
• Provides R&D QA support to Supplier Evaluation Teams, and function as Clinical SME for service providers.
• Leads audit & inspection preparation, conduct and remediation as needed, for both national and local inspections (e.g., FDA, EMA, MHRA, TUV etc.).
• Contributes to cross-divisional activities including but not limited to FAA, FSCA and/or Market Actions/ Investigational Product Field Actions as assigned.

WHAT YOU'LL BRING TO ALCON:

• Bachelor’s Degree or Equivalent years of directly related experience (or high school +15 yrs; Assoc.+11 yrs; M.S.+4 yrs; PhD+3 yrs).
• The ability to fluently read, write, understand, and communicate in English.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor’s degree in science or technology.
• QA work experience in a regulated Medical Device / Pharmaceutical Industry.
• Strong R&D experience and knowledge, with manufacturing experience desired.
• Proven personnel management experience.
• Advanced knowledge of ISO 14155/ 14971, 13485, ICH 6, Medical Device and Pharmaceutical EU and FDA 21 CFR 820 / 211 regulatory requirements.
• Highly proficient in MS Office.
• Highly proficient in data analytics, critical thinking, and decision making.
• Proven influencing and negotiating skillset.
• Ability to lead virtual teams and function in a matrix organization, with project management experience desired.
• Advocate for exceptional Quality and Compliance Standards - does not compromise on customer expectations and regulatory requirements.
