MEDVAMC Deputy Chief of Staff - Operations
Represents the Chief of Staff (COS) in all aspects of administrative leadership,
including, but not limited to:
Serves, in conjunction with the Chief of Staff, Director, Deputy Director,
Associate Director for Patient Care Services, and the Associate Director, as
member of the Medical Center Executive Team.

Duties include:
The position will provide anesthesia coverage for all specialties of surgery, beside specializing in cardiac
surgeries in a care team approach. Must have experience with anesthetic management for cardiac,
Thoracic, and major vascular procedures and providing anesthesia for insertion of ventricular assist
devices and ECMO.
This position will also be experienced in performing neuraxial (epidural and spinal) anesthesia. Additional

• Establishes external relationships and collaborative alliances, which facilitate teamwork, enhance nursing practice, scientific inquiry, and promote partnership with academic and professional organizations at a regional (VISN) and national level.
• Serves on, leads, and/or establishes key committees to improve clinical and nursing processes across the enterprise as a national ONS representative for ambulatory care nursing.

• Promotes the identification, dissemination, and evaluation of best practices in ambulatory care nursing and team-based care.
• Assesses trends in ambulatory care nursing practice and clinical outcome measurement systems to identify and implement optimal practices and approaches, and the use of information systems, electronic health record, metrics, and outcome measures to guide care.
• Responds to internal and external communications and maintains knowledge of and communicating activities through communication with VA and non-VA stakeholders.
• Promotes the development, operationalization, and sustainment of strong partnerships between VA and external stakeholders through national ambulatory care-related nursing committees and workgroups with representation from national nursing leaders to end users to advance standardization and excellence.

E/GP directly supports the administration’s imperative to advance American leadership through balanced engagement, as well as protect America's security and renew its competitive advantage for sustained economic growth and job creation.  E/GP conducts private sector engagement to advance the Department’s top policy priorities and works to institutionalize private sector engagement across the Department.

The Global Partnership Officer is recognized as a Department lead authority on private sector engagement and public-private partnerships, the incumbent provides specialized expertise and authoritative guidance to the Special Representative for Global Partnerships and the Under Secretary for Economic, Energy, and the Environment.  In close collaboration with senior leadership across relevant bureaus to leverage declining foreign assistance funds through strategic partnerships with credible private sector entities, the incumbent's role is crucial for institutionalizing State's engagement across inter-agency and top-level private-sector stakeholders on key foreign policy priorities.  Additional responsibilities of the position include but are not limited to the following:

• Lead the creation and continuous refinement of a department-wide Private Sector Engagement Policy and Strategy, setting new standards for government-business collaboration in diplomacy involving pioneering innovative frameworks for risk-sharing and reward distribution between the Department and private sector partners, creating ambitious and pragmatic cooperation models.  Develop background information, tactics, and approaches for achieving policy positions within and outside the Department on private sector outreach and collaboration to architect groundbreaking policies and strategies that redefine how the Department of State leverages private sector resources, expertise, and markets to advance U.S. foreign policy objectives. 

• As a recognized thought leader who can shape the future direction of public-private engagement in international affairs, and using knowledge of the Department’s policy priorities, the incumbent will liaise with high-level officials within the Department and other USG agencies to discuss proposed programs and agendas, and explore how the Department of State and the USG can leverage private sector engagement and multisectoral partnerships to advance U.S. interests abroad. 

• Forming innovative partnerships that enhance the effectiveness of government resources, the incumbent's recommendations shape how human capital, operational resources, and policy frameworks are deployed across the Department and partner agencies.  Decisions have far-reaching implications for how the U.S. Government leverages its foreign assistance budget and engages with private sector partners to maximize impact and efficiency.  By aligning public funds with private sector capabilities, they create synergies that maximize the impact of every dollar spent.

• Enforce security regulations to protect statistical data collected within the Region; ensure the proper maintenance, preservation, and disposal of all official statistical records.
• Direct the preparation of instructions needed to implement office program policies and procedures and adapt them to the agricultural practices or special situations in the Region.
• Manage the overall operation of the office making determinations regarding workload, staffing, budget, and equipment and recommend modifications.
• Serve on various Departmental, Agency-wide, and interagency committees.
• Serve as the primary spokesperson for the Agency within the State, establish and maintain liaison with decision-makers at all levels of State and local government.

As a Supervisory IT Project Manager (Director), you will:

• Have technical responsibility for leading, planning, developing, implementing, Technology (IT) application projects for the Treasury shared service offering within the HR Line of Business.
• Oversee the work of subordinate staff members who are engaged in the management of significant IT projects, essential to the shared service mission of the Department and impactful to the customer population exceeding 200,000 users on a long-term or continuing basis.
• Provide all necessary coordination in the review and approval of proposed projects, proposed application projects, and exercises full project management responsibility for planning, administrating, budgeting, training, organizing, controlling, and reviewing the utilization of total project resources.
