Our Nuffield Health The Manor Hospital are seeking an enthusiastic and proactive Pharmacy Manager to join the team. Duties will include ensuring adherence to medicines optimisation policies and procedures, providing oversight of pharmaceutical stock procurement, as well as other associated pharmaceutical duties and have a key role in delivering high quality clinical care and advice to our patients and teams across a range of departments including ICU/HDU, the Pre-assessment clinic, Outpatient Department, Ward, Theatres and Oncology Team.

As a Pharmacy Manager, you will:

• Provide leadership and advice on medicines management to ensure that processes across all clinical departments throughout the hospital are safe, cost effective and legal and are supported by up to date policies, procedures and guidelines. This will include chairing the Medicines Management Forum on a quarterly basis.

• Be responsible for leading, motivating and effectively managing the pharmacy team by providing excellent leadership.

• As the Antimicrobial Stewardship Lead, optimise the management of antimicrobials to minimise the occurrence of hospital acquired infections by ensuring pharmacy adherence to up to date policies, guidelines and systems of work. Undertake regular audit of this in conjunction with the IP nurse/nurse team.

• Ensuring the pharmacy team undertake daily ward rounds reconciling medication for new inpatients; counselling patients; managing PODs and checking for relevant allergies, adverse drug reactions and contra-indications to treatment, ensuring all medicines prescribed are clinically appropriate in line with national and/or local policies and guidelines etc.

• Assist and leading the team in facilitating timely and informed discharge of patients returning to primary care by dispensing, accuracy checking and clinically checking TTOs, counselling patients prior to discharge and in facilitating timely and informed discharge of patients returning to primary care.

• Lead on the implementation of medication safety alerts and drug recalls for the hospital working closely with the Director of Clinical Services.

• Implement and monitor DoH guidance on all aspects of controlled drugs use in the hospital and ensure the CD audit is completed quarterly.

• Ensure errors, complaints and incidents are managed in line with the Nuffield Health guidelines, specifically reporting these using the RADAR system and reviewing/investigating relevant RADAR reports relating to medicines.

• Support the development of other healthcare professionals and deliver medicines-focused training upon request.

The successful candidate will have excellent skills and abilities in leading and managing change, either through application of project and programme management techniques and processes, or other recognised improvement tools and methodologies. Being able to analyse situations and work alongside service development colleagues, clinicians, support staff, medics and senior leaders to compile suitable solutions and improvements is a critical element of this role.

Biobank Operations Provide day-to-day management of the HaemBio Biobank. Manage and oversee amendments to regulatory authorities. Ensure that Biobank operations are in accordance with SOPs and all regulatory and research governance requirements (including the Human Tissue Act). This includes quality control and maintenance of the Biobanks documentation, regular audit of banking process, and investigations of deviations in practice, which should be reported to the Biobank Governance Committee as appropriate. Provide advice and support to other staff members with regard to Biobank and research governance and conduct. Maintain strong relationships and good communication with other key personnel in the Biobank. Manage and conduct regular audits, dealing with complex facts or situations requiring analysis, interpretation and comparison of options to ensure compliance with HTA requirements. Co-ordinate data collection and storage with Tissue Collection Centres and liaise with external database provider to ensure that the online database is fit for purpose. Communicate complex and sometimes sensitive information with relevant parties including external collaborators with matters relevant to the Biobank including outreach activity and monitoring visits of Tissue Collection Centres. Assist the Chief Investigator in ensuring that the Biobank operates with agreed budgets in conjunction with the Biobank Governance Committee, including maintaining spreadsheets of expenses, raising purchase orders, and ensuring payment of invoices. In conjunction with the Biobank Governance Committee and University Research Services ensure appropriate contracts are in place for the conduct of the work with external parties. Maintain knowledge of Biobank governance issues and an understanding of national and local policies. Performance Management and Service Development Organise and attend the Governance Committee meetings. Organise regular update meetings with relevant stakeholders including Tissue Collection Centres and Researchers, undertaking qualitative assessment to ensure compliance with a range of targets. Maintain the Biobank website. Assist the Governance Committee members with the preparation of reports andmanuscripts to share progress with funders, collaborators and wider public. With support from the Governance Committee, assist with the development and implementation of operational and strategic policy for the Biobank. In consultation with the Governance Committee, take the lead in the development of standard operational procedures (SOPs) for the Biobank, and assist in implementation of new amendments. Assist in gaining regulatory and ethical approval for future protocol amendments. Assist with recruitment, training and supervision of Biobank staff members as appropriate. Personal Education, Training and Development Keep up-to-date with departmental Trust, NHS, MHRA policies of managing the Biobank to ensure timely effective implementation of changes. Attend relevant courses, meetings and conferences.Contribute to the development and improvement of the Biobank.

As a key member of the Clinical Governance Department, the Deputy Head of Clinical Governance will work closely with the Head of Clinical Governance; and the other members of the senior management team [Clinical Audit & Effectiveness Manager; Clinical Outcomes Manager; Patient Safety Team manager]; Deputy Chief Medical Officer; and colleagues from across the organisation to assist the Trust in achieving the strategic goals set out in the OUH Strategy.

The successful candidate will be from a clinical background, able to organise and prioritise their workload; have an excellent working knowledge of Clinical Governance, have an in depth knowledge and practical experience in managing clinical quality improvement programmes such as quality priorities and commissioner-based quality improvement programmes as well as have excellent communication and interpersonal skills. They should have a background in working with teams from different professional backgrounds, and prior experience in the NHS would be highly desirable. They will be passionate about improving patient safety systems in conjunction with analysis and learning from themes from clinical incident, claims and complaints and be conversant with the NHS Patient Safety Strategy.

Assist in the production of the Annual Quality Account, programme of associated Quality Priorities, and assist in running the annual stakeholder event where these are chosen and showcased.

Assist in setting up the CQUIN or equivalent programme and monitoring its progress with regular reports to relevant Trust committees.

Line manage a designated part of the Clinical Governance Team under the guidance of the Head of Clinical Governance, this includes the Clinical Outcomes manager, the Clinical Audit & Effectiveness manager and the Ulysses team manager.
