Are you a qualified Project Manager seeking a role that challenges and rewards in equal measure? Money and Pensions Service (MaPS) is looking for a Project Manager that has a track record in delivering project within the agreed time, cost and quality constraints. We are looking for a Project Manager to support prioritised change initiatives at MaPS and be part of the MaPS change team. This role will provide support on wider business change initiatives to a range of stakeholders.
Job Description:
The Project Manager will report directly to the Senior Programme Manager. In this role you will be responsible for the following:
Day to day management and leadership of the project and the project team. Provide effective leadership and management controls. Set project controls. Design the project structure and organisation appropriate to stage. Set appropriate delivery methodologies.
- Delivery – Create and lead the project to deliver the agreed outcomes within time, cost and quality constraints.
- Budget – Develop the budget and track delivery within budget and work closely with Finance colleagues.
- Resources – Identify skill requirements; and deploy and develop resources. Manage medium sized team.
- Benefits Realisation –Support the project team to ensure project benefits are identified, understood, measured, tracked and owned.
- Stakeholder Management – Identify and manage stakeholder relationships and need for senior level support. Manage internal and external relationships as appropriate.
- Risks, Issues and Dependencies – Identify and monitor project risks, issues and dependencies. Develop mitigating actions and escalate as appropriate. Identify and work with related projects to manage interdependencies.
- Governance – Support effective governance and decision making. Provide reporting and engage in mechanisms that hold you, as Project Manager, to account for delivery. Provide regular updates to portfolio and SRO on project performance.
- Assurance – Engage with assurance reviews and support action on recommendations.
- Change Management – Ensure effective Change Management processes are in place to agree and document changes to deliverables as agreed with stakeholders.
- Guidance & Support – Provide support, guidance and coaching for the project team. Show commitment to personal development. Promote effective individual and team performance.
- Support Change Function centrally (where required) – Support the central change activities and the development new change processes.
- Project performance and controls
- Business Case – Support the development of Business Cases, with input from specialists as necessary.
This is not meant to be an exhaustive list of duties. The need for flexibility, shared accountability and team working is required, and the role-holder is expected to carry out any other related duties that are within the employee's skills and abilities whenever reasonably instructed.
Skills and Experience:
You will need to demonstrate the following skills and experience:
- Qualified PPM Professional : Project management qualification (PRINCE2, APM etc.)
- Experience of successfully managing projects end to end, on time and to budget.
- A good understanding of change control management.
- Experience of working effectively with wide range of stakeholders across other government departments, directorate/business group lines, government departments and other external partners.
- Experience of securing resources and directing planning, scheduling, resourcing and estimation for complex and large-scale projects.
- Experience of actively managing risk, issues and dependencies, liaising with appropriate stakeholders to mitigate and action appropriately.
- Ability to provide effective leadership and management controls.
- Ability to understand policy and align change delivery, cascading vision and driving delivery objectives through your team.
- Ability to work with ambiguity.
