WHAT YOU’LL DO

University Hospital Southampton is seeking a Clinical Fellow in Cardiac Imaging to commence in August 2024 for 12 months. The post holder is expected to participate in the service provision for echocardiography and support specialist echo services including stress, transoesophageal, research, contrast and 3D echocardiography. A weekly session in cardiac MRI is provided for the Imaging Fellow and sessions in cardiac CT may also be accommodated depending on the interests of the post holder. This post will suit a senior or a Post-CCT cardiology SpR who plans to specialise in non-invasive cardiac imaging. Previous experience in cardiac imaging is essential. The post has a requirement for general cardiology on-call but no commitment to GIM on call.

Applicants will be expected to demonstrate their competence to communicate in spoken and written English.

Where equivalent qualifications or experience are being offered, it is essential that candidates should provide confirmation of this from the relevant College or Faculty in the United Kingdom and attach the confirmation to your application.

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

All candidates should have MRCP or an equivalent qualification. Candidates should have experience in transoesophageal and stress echocardiography. They should be sufficiently equipped to manage a cardiology take. The candidate should be able to communicate well with colleagues, cardiac physiologists and other subspecialties.



ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Appointment will be made under local contractual terms and conditions of service for Trust appointed (non-training fellow doctors and dentists).

Successful candidates will have an educational framework equivalent to training grade doctors, and there will be a named educational supervisor assigned at the start of the post. The opportunity for Continued Professional Development (CPD) is highly supported and encouraged by the Trust, with options available to take study leave. All licensed doctors must meet the GMC requirements for revalidation and there will be an annual appraisal to support this process.

Our Neurosurgery Theatres Leadership Team has an exciting opportunity for a Band 6 Neuro Angiography Senior Theatre Practitioner. You will be responsible for assisting the Team Leader in the management of the newly expanded 24/7 stroke service and the Neuro Angiography practitioners as well as the Neuro theatre suites. In addition, you are responsible for ensuring high standards of patient care are maintained, acting as a credible role model to colleagues, and patient advocate at all times using the NMC / HCPC Professional Code of Conduct as the framework for your professional practice.

We currently run four Operating Theatres Monday to Friday, with additional activity in the two Neuro angiography suites for neuro interventional radiolgy and we also support 24-hour Neuro Emergency patient pathways. We cover both adult and paediatric neurosurgery. In the following months, our stroke services will be expanded to include a 24-hour service.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

WHAT YOU’LL DO

You will work alongside the specialty registrars in haematology, and opportunities for education and supervision will be identical, including allocation of an educational supervisor for the duration of the post.

The principal duties of the posts will include:
• Review of patients referred for CAR-T cell therapy for lymphoma and ALL, in an outpatient or inpatient setting.
• Liaison with referring teams, CAR-T consultants, and CAR-T coordination team in planning for apheresis, bridging, infusion, discharge, and post-CAR-T follow-up.
• Management of patients undergoing CAR-T cell therapy in the inpatient setting, in collaboration with the subspecialty ward teams and supervising CAR-T consultants.
• Management of patients on the ambulatory CAR-T pathway.
• Referral to other specialty teams (e.g. GICU, neurology, cardiology) as required to provide optimal care of patients undergoing CAR-T cell therapy.
• Discussion of cases as appropriate at the Southampton lymphoma and leukaemia MDTs, and the CAR-T MDT.
• Active involvement with the development and expansion of the CAR-T service within the WBMT&CT, in collaboration with the lymphoma and ALL subspecialty CAR-T leads.
• Active involvement in the recruitment and management of patients within CAR-T clinical trials.
• Collaboration with other colleagues in the region through MDT and network-wide working.
• Development of regional CAR-T referral pathways in collaboration with CAR-T lead consultants.
• Participation in clinical governance activities including morbidity and mortality meetings and other committees as appropriate both within and external to the department.
• Contribution to the audit activities of the WBMT&CTP and wider haematology department, including specialty regional and national audit programmes. Where possible, to participate in the collection and analysis of local data with a view to preparing and submitting papers for publication, and to contribute to the ongoing collection of ‘real-world’ UK CAR-T data through the National CAR-T Clinical Panel (NCCP).
• Undertaking of procedures relevant to haematology, including bone marrow biopsy, intrathecal chemotherapy, and tunnelled central catheter removal. Where necessary, appropriate training and supervision will be provided.
• Engagement with the specialty trainee education programme, including attendance at regular educational meetings. Pre-CCT post-holders will be expected to maintain an educational portfolio mirroring their equivalent stage of training. Post-CCT fellows will be required to engage with the trust’s existing appraisal system.

Main Responsibilities

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES WHAT YOULL DO The successful candidate will be expected to complement a team of 4 existing congenital cardiac consultant surgeons. As part of the current service expansion, the successful candidate will be expected to help cope with a growing surgical workload, including the recently fully commissioned cardiac and non-cardiac ECMO services in both paediatric and ACHD patients. The post may present an opportunity for further employment in the context of a succession plan, subject to the appointees experience and competence. Unlike other surgical programs, up to 30-40% of the operations performed at UHS are conducted following dual consultant operation (DCO) model, which is built upon the mentoring system in use at UHS. Upon successful application, the appointee will enter a surgical mentoring program, to develop a safe and progressively independent operator status for low and medium complexity lesions. Depending on the experience of the appointee, the program will be tailored to maximise learning opportunities while maintaining good clinical governance. Successful candidates sub-specialty interests which may complement the existing expertise in the department will be taken into consideration. The appointee will assist and will be assisted in carrying out congenital cardiac theatre lists, on-call duties and out-patient clinics for paediatric and ACHD patients at UHS. A valid licence for driving in the UK is an essential requirement. Patients are referred by their cardiologist for surgery and a surgical plan agreed in multi-disciplinary meetings. Surgeons are expected to carry out theatre lists every day, and under the current expansion plan, these should amount to 7-8 per week. The daytime and out of hours congenital surgical on-call duties are shared by all consultants. This involves the surgical management of emergency referrals, PICU, NICU, CICU and providing cardiac surgical input as required on these units. The surgical fellow appointee will be expected to participate in these activities, work with junior colleagues from the surgical rota, and provide some out-of-hours supervised cover, subject to job plan and expertise. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION Appointment will be made under local contractual terms and conditions of service for Trust appointed (non-training fellow doctors and dentists). Successful candidates will have an educational framework equivalent to training grade doctors, and there will be a named educational supervisor assigned at the start of the post. The opportunity for Continued Professional Development (CPD) is highly supported and encouraged by the Trust, with options available to take study leave. All licensed doctors must meet the GMC requirements for revalidation and there will be an annual appraisal to support this process. Your new role

What you\'ll need to succeed
We're looking for strong Java / Spring developers (5+ years experience), ideally with Microservices. In helping them modernise you'll champion Extreme Programming (XP) practices such as test-driven development (TDD), refactoring, continuous integration (CI) and pair programming.

You must have experiencing mentoring other Developers and will be a go-to person within the team for technical guidance.

Development experience with cloud services (AWS, Google, Azure etc) and associated architectural styles and principles will be important, and you'll be comfortable using Git, Docker, Kubernetes, Selenium, Jira and Confluence (or similar).

They are open to experience with any relational database (SQL Server, Oracle, NoSQL) and some experience with JavaScript frameworks would be a nice to have (Angular, React etc).
