Based in Warrington, your new company has a Civil and Structural Engineering team of 18 and are looking to boost their Structural Engineering capabilities further to meet demands for an exciting pipeline of work that extends to 2025.
Your new role
As a Senior Structural Engineer, you will be acting independently as an engineer and consultant responsible for managing design processes for smaller projects and elements of larger, more complex projects. You will be working closely with a Principal Engineer across multiple projects simultaneously whilst providing direction and oversight to Graduate and Project Level Engineers:
Important tasks include:

• Act in responsible charge while directly performing assigned tasks conforming with the Company's quality standards and the project budget and schedule.
• Initiate and maintain communication with clients and contractors to coordinate technical project requirements.
• Communicate the status of projects to the Department Manager.
• Interface with clients to define the scope of work and job tasks.
• Work directly with clients to identify and resolve problems within the area of technical expertise.
• Propose new approaches to problems encountered and recommend changes in methods, procedures, or designs.
• Perform as a team member or a project manager, consistent with the skills and experience required for the project.

What you'll need to succeed

• BEng, MEng, or MSc in an appropriate/relevant discipline (or recognised appropriate equivalent) with at least five years' experience working as a Project Engineer/Consultant.
• Experience of designing/assessing steel and concrete elements to internationally recognised codes and standards.
• Experience with AutoCAD, STAAD, MathCAD and Finite Element Analysis (not essential, other software experience e.g. TEDDS is suitable)
• The ability to communicate technical aspects of projects and work assignments to peers, subordinates, and clients orally and in writing.
• The ability to direct the execution of moderately complex engineering tasks, as appropriate.
• Knowledge of related technical disciplines.
• Ability to identify and efficiently analyse solutions to problems.

Main Responsibilities

Main Responsibilities for Senior Technical Architect:

• Accountable for the NNL IT Infrastructure and it's operational management and security.
• Autonomy to define the NNL Technical Architecture, Standards and Governing Principles as per industry standards to ensure fitness for business purpose.
• Ownership of the Technology Infrastructure Strategies to underpin NNL's ongoing digital transformation.
• Responsible TDA and decision maker for CAB and Design Peer Reviews.
• Responsible for the analysis of infrastructure change and market trends to determine their potential impacts on the NNL.
• Responsible the production of technical solution HLD's, LLD's, Target State Architectures, Roadmaps, Blueprints, Build Books, Test Plans and Scripts.
• Accountable for the deployed solutions alignment to functional and non-functional requirements and technical sign-off into service.
• Trusted advisor to senior management for Infrastructure risk management and remediations.
• Accountable for technical architecture escalations from the Infrastructure Team Lead.
• Responsible for ensuring information technical solutions developed aligns with IT strategy and technology direction.
• Creating innovative proof of concepts (code, application, configuration) to demonstrate solutions to senior stakeholders.
• Analysis and communication of technical risks associated with technology solutions and existing services to various stakeholders within the IT department and the wider business.

Ideal Candidate

Essential Criteria for Senior Technical Architect:

• Ability to obtain SC level security clearance (this includes but is not limited to identity, employment, financial and criminal record checks plus 5 years' worth of UK residency).
• Highly experienced with depth of knowledge in Azure / Cloud architecture, e.g. Azure IaaS, Azure PaaS, SaaS, InTune and Office 365 Administration.
• Able to develop business supporting infrastructure and technology strategies, investment cases and solutions that have disrupted traditional thinking and ways of working.
• A proven track record in the design and development of enterprise grade solutions for traditional on premise and modern cloud or hybrid environments in secure industries.
• Has experience of complex business and application environments with interdependencies, also including the design of virtualised infrastructure, including Hyper-V and VMWare.
• Practical experience in Storage Solutions, Backup and Replication Services (DFS, VEEAM, ASR). Experienced with security controls including SIEM, Vulnerability Scanning, Server and Client Security, ZScaler and Microsoft Defender for Cloud.
• Demonstrable experience of similar position/role or working within established architecture practice. Can develop and deliver enterprise level solution designs using suitable technologies, adopting standards, and governing their implementation as appropriate.

Desirable Criteria for Senior Technical Architect:

• Possesses good breadth and depth of knowledge and knowhow across multiple aspects of IT and architectural domains including Technology, Application, Data and Security.
• Demonstrable experience in the information technology sector in related roles (for example: technical architecture, technical analysis, application development, network, or infrastructure engineering etc.)
• Experience of working in accredited / regulated environments, production of documentation and balancing business benefit against technology risk.
• Self-motivated and proactive with good organisational & communication skills.

Our client Scottish Power Renewables are seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer for a long-term contract role based in Glasgow.

Main Purpose of Job

The Senior Electrical Engineer is responsible for the specification and technical delivery of the electrical engineering aspects of SPR’s onshore Renewables projects. Commencing at conceptual stages projects are to be technically specified and delivered through development, planning application, tendering, design, construction and commissioning phases in line with the programme. This includes Grid Application and all system design to ensure that the design complies with the project requirements. Projects will consist Wind Generation, Solar PV, Energy Storage Systems and other new technologies.

Reporting to the Lead Electrical Engineer, the Senior Electrical Engineer will be responsible for technically managing the day-to-day aspects of electrical engineering design and delivery of assigned projects and ensure support is given to the Project Managers and other internal stakeholders. They will lead on the technical delivery and guide and support the electrical Engineering resources assigned to them to them ensuring that technical delivery and coordination between all internal and external third parties is maintained and design carried out in line with SPR specifications, rules and company standards. You will also assist the Lead Electrical Engineer with resource management ensuring the effective deployment of electrical engineering to support delivery of the programme of projects is optimised.

The role will focus primarily on the specification and design of the HV Electrical Infrastructure on new sites and also for the re-powering of existing assets. Create electrical equipment ordering specifications from the conceptual design through to detail design and ensure placement of orders and the coordination of the technical flow of information to the requirements and timescales of the project managers. You will support the project teams with the management of the process for obtaining new grid connections, from initial application through to commissioning and testing. Additionally, the role will provide generation and review of design proposals the management and supervision of consultants and subcontractors the user requirements definition of balance of plant control systems, infrastructure and their interfaces.

The individual will be working as part of the Onshore Projects & Construction Team. The position may require periods where the individual is site based during the construction phase of projects within the UK.


Accountabilities

• Deputise for the Lead Electrical Engineer as required to support the business in their absence
• Assist the Lead Electrical Engineer with co-ordination and planning of Electrical Engineering technical resources to meet the requirements of the UK business to support Project Delivery requirements across New Business, Development, Design and Construction Delivery.
• Technically coordinate all electrical engineering project deliverables between all design third parties ensuring the project timelines are managed to the project manager’s requirements
• Build relationships with and liaise with wider Iberdrola Global Technical teams to ensure coordination and collaboration of Electrical Engineering resources and implementation of Iberdrola Global Best practice for activities delivered across the UK Engineering team
• Participate with, promote and manage positive H&S behaviours and competencies within the team to ensure high standards are achieved and maintained.
• Assist the Lead Electrical Engineer and take proactive responsibility with coaching and mentoring of the ElectricaI Engineering team and assist with technical training activities.
• Assist the project teams with the management of the process of developing, designing and constructing renewable energy assets, from initial application through to commissioning and testing.
• Lead, coordinate and manage the delivery of assigned projects and develop the set of technical schedules for inclusion within design, turbine and infrastructure contracts
