The CT Scanning department at CUH undertakes a wide range of scanning techniques some of which are not performed anywhere else in the country and in some research instances the world. Working as the Senior Maintenance Engineer you will be part of the Engineering Team and will play a key role supporting production. You will also be required to support in the general day to day maintenance of the buildings and their infrastructure that makes up the company.

As the Senior Maintenance Engineer, you would be responsible for machinery maintenance and breakdowns, and support with all facilities maintenance and fabrication.

You will be working closely with the other engineers, and will help them develop their skills with vacuum, pneumatics, high voltage, PLC, furnaces, glass working lathes and many other unique pieces of equipment.

It is ideal if this type of role is new to you, where you can learn and build new skills. You will need to have minimum GCSE Grade 4/C or Functional Skills Level 2 in Maths and English. You will be enthusiastic, have a positive work ethic, be keen to learn and able to work in a team. You will receive support to gain a wide range of experience and skills, supervision and mentoring. The contract length is for 24 months and the apprenticeship salary on commencement is £14,400; after 12 months in post this will increase to the National Minimum Wage (depending upon your age). A Vacancy at Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.


Applications are invited for the post of Clinical Fellow (Higher ST6+/Senior) in Pre-Hospital Emergency Medicine and Paediatric Retrieval (PaNDR), commencing on 05 February 2025 until 03 February 2026.

This post provides an exciting opportunity for senior doctors to work in a 50:50 split role with PaNDR (Paediatric and Neonatal Decision Support and Retrieval Service) and with a Helicopter Emergency Medicine Service, Magpas Air Ambulance.

The post incorporates induction, training and Consultant supervision necessary to undertake both roles. Successful candidate will be rotating between the posts in three-week cycles.

Candidates may apply as a stand-alone post, a post CCT fellowship, or as an OOPE, from an accredited HST training program.

These posts are particularly suited to those wishing to gain experience in retrieval with a background of Anaesthetics or Adult /Paediatric intensive care or Emergency Medicine. Please see more detailed information in the attached Job Description.

Full Registration and a Licence to Practice with the General Medical Council at time of application is required.

The applicant must have demonstrable skills in listening, reading, writing and speaking in English that enable effective communication about medical topics with patients and colleagues, as set out in the GMC’s Good Medical Practice (2013). Non-UK applicants must possess the IELTS/OET exam before obtaining a GMC licence to practice.
