Senior Tutor (Research) - Textiles

Founded in 1837, our client is the world's largest community of postgraduate art and design students. They are seeking an outstanding Senior Researcher in Textiles to contribute towards the ongoing work of the School of Design and the College more broadly. Textiles at the College operates at the intersection of design, craft and fine art, and they actively encourage this mix of thinking to collectively challenge the role of the 21st century Textiles practitioner. Practice-led research is a fundamental intellectual framework for how our client develop textiles and materials; conceived and created by 'thinking through making', they are uncovering new insights through material and process exploration in the physical and digital domains.

The successful candidate will evidence their ongoing commitment to ensuring an inclusive and diverse curriculum at the level of postgraduate study, with the high levels of commitment and energy required by a world-leading environment. You will take on a leadership role in the shaping and delivery of curriculum within the Textiles programme, leading on the organisation of exhibitions and events and to deliver workshops, seminars, crits and tutorials, including participating in and chairing examination panels.

Supporting the Head of Programme with day-to-day academic management, administration and communication; you will encourage critical design thinking and research, assist in the development of relevant academic and industrial collaborations for research and knowledge exchange activities, and have specialist knowledge and demonstrable practical experience in textiles. Applicants with knowledge and experience of relevant new technologies, and/or material science are particularly welcomed.

Essential characteristics of the postholder:

- First degree in a relevant specialism

- A doctorate in a relevant field

- A postgraduate certificate (PGCert) in higher education and/or accredited fellow of the Higher Education Academy, or commitment to undertake appropriate training to achieve such within two years of appointment

- If supervising research students, have completed research supervision training or to undertake and complete appropriate training within two years of appointment before commencing supervision

- Commitment to high-quality teaching and fostering a positive learning environment for students

- Commitment to continuous professional development

- Commitment to equality of opportunity and the ability to work harmoniously with colleagues and students of all cultures and backgrounds

- Evidence of the ability to supervise academic work at the master's and doctoral level

- Proven record of producing research outputs of at least 3* REF quality

We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Wastewater Hydraulic Modeller to join our team of innovative and motivated network modellers, engineers and project managers, delivering projects across the UK. We are looking for a driven, experienced individual who wants to progress their career, with a desire to evolve within Mott MacDonald, and to mentor and develop others. As a Senior Modeller, you'll provide key technical inputs on a diverse range of UK wastewater infrastructure projects, from feasibility through to detailed design. Our senior modellers are a key part of our modelling community and have the opportunity to contribute to internal innovation sprints, involved in external conferences, drive the direction of our sub-sector at a strategic level and contribute to business development.

You'll be responsible for:

• Delivering wastewater infrastructure projects of varying sizes.
• Collaborating closely with our clients to ensure they understand model outputs and processes.
• Mentoring and training of graduate modellers and providing guidance to support their professional development.
• Specification and management of flow surveys.
• Undertaking a technical lead role of model build and verification projects.
• Contributing and checking technical reports and presentations.

Candidate Specification

To be considered for this role you will require:

• Ability to be a team player and develop relationships at all levels.
• Working collaboratively with clients as delivery lead, planning and delivering wastewater modelling projects of varying sizes.
• Strong communication skills.
• Qualified candidates should be familiar with Innovyze ICM as well GIS packages (ideally MapInfo).
• Chartered with a relevant professional institution (i.e. ICE or CIWEM).
• Excellent skills in spreadsheet data analysis (i.e: using MS Excel pivot tables or PowerBI).
• Programming skills in languages such as VBA or Python would be advantageous.

We are on the lookout for an experienced Payroll Senior to join our payroll team based in Croydon. Part of a close-knit team, you'll support the delivery of accurate and timely payroll services to our 8000+ colleagues, across a fast-growing multi-business.

You will be a key member of the team, performing general payroll tasks but with particular focus on ensuring the payroll department runs effectively.

Key Accountabilities:

• Payroll: Responsible for the production of allocated payrolls with regard to accuracy and timely payment of salaries in accordance with contracts of employment and HR information. Ensuring compliance with PAYE, NI and other statutory regulations; responsible for checking colleague's payrolls for accuracy prior to payroll calculation; responsible for preparing and processing of the expat payrolls and ensuring payroll deductions are effectively communicated to overseas payroll teams; responsible for validating the quality of payroll input by the team; responsible for provision of the costing file for interface to the financial ledger system. Liaise with relevant stakeholders to ensure payroll queries on data, processes, procedures and regulations are dealt with for the effective preparation of the payroll

• Compliance: Assist the Payroll Supervisor in the preparation of year end and other statutory/non statutory returns; ensure deadline for true up and return on our Modified NIC scheme are always met; assist in the maintaining and archiving of payroll data and records in safe manner to ensure compliance with data protection regulations.

• Systems: Liaise with payroll system support and issues that affect the operation of the payroll system; help with testing legislative patches and system upgrades as and when required.

• Information and Communication: to respond to queries/requests for information from staff, senior management, and external bodies in a timely manner; communication with our HR Shared Service Centre (HRSSC) and HRIS to assist in maintaining data and integrity on Payroll System and accuracy of payments.

Other activities consistent with the varied and developing demands of the role which include:

• Deputise in the absence of Payroll Supervisor
• Act as first point of escalation for all payroll related queries within the team.
• Assist the Payroll Supervisor with Audits
• Assist the Payroll Supervisor with month end processes.
• Assist in staff training.
• Review and improve payroll guidelines and processes.
