Your new role

The Cambridge HPB Surgical Unit is the centralised regional HPB referral centre for East Anglia covering a population of 2.5million. Our unit is one of the largest in the UK in terms of clinical volumes (8 Consultant HPB surgeons, >120 liver resections, >100 pancreatic resections annually), with excellent surgical outcomes. The post offers excellent sub-specialty training in HPB surgery.

Candidates will preferably have previous experience at Specialty Registrar level in General Surgery, experience in HPB Surgery is desirable although not essential.

The successful candidate will provide senior surgical cover for HPB patients including attending operating theatres, outpatient clinics, HPB MDT meetings, and covering the on-call rota for HPB surgery.

There will not be a commitment to General Surgery or Transplant Surgery on-calls. The successful candidate will join a team of SCFs and HPB Specialty Trainees. The appointee is expected to carry out a degree of clinical work independently.

We have an excellent track record of providing sub-specialty training in HPB surgery including complex HPB resectional surgery. There will be ample opportunities to be engaged in research projects leading to publications.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 7 Senior Sister/Charge nurse to join our Medical Short Stay Unit, EAU 5. The unit consists of 26 beds, 11 of which are monitored and take a variety of patients with acute medical conditions who are expected to have a length of stay of less than 72 hours. There are also 2 rapid handover beds that take patients from ED to reduce ambulance offload delays and take patients at short notice. You must be a motivated individual with proven leadership experience at either Band 6 or 7 to inspire staff and ensure the provision of safe, personal and effective care whilst maintaining flow through the unit to maximise the non-elective medical pathway. You will be expected to promote change and continue the development of the unit and staff.

You will maintain high standards of nursing care, meeting national and local standards with regards to quality, safety and length of stay within the unit. You will promote innovative thinking and provide inspirational leadership and managerial support to all members of the multidisciplinary team. You will be responsible for the day to day running of the ward and have responsibility for 50 nurses and healthcare support workers. We have an exciting opportunity at CUH Nuclear Medicine and PET-CT department for a motivated Radiographer or Nuclear Medicine Technologist.

For this, you will already have proven experience in delivering a Nuclear Medicine and/or PET-CT Service. Additional training will be provided where required.

The department has 3 Gamma Camera’s, 1 PET-CT scanner, Radiopharmacy, sample counting and blood labs and we also have access to a cyclotron which provides some of PET-CT’s isotopes and is part of the Wolfson Brain Imaging Centre.

You will be involved in types of imaging that are not carried out anywhere else in the country and in some research instances the world. Due to our close links to the University and the Cambridge Biomedical Campus, we can offer the opportunity to work with the most up to date technology and imaging protocols and be at the forefront of new research and development techniques.

You will have:
1. DCR (R) / BSc in Diagnostic Radiography and or BSc (Hons) Clinical Technology or equivalent.
2. Must have current HCPC / RCT Registration.

Our dynamic stroke specialist nursing team is currently recruiting a band 7 post to take part in our thrombectomy 24/7 service.

By joining the team you will take part on a rapid assessment and treatment plan of acute stroke patients within Stroke Alert Team, Thrombectomy, and Stroke Prevention services.

You will work closely with the multidisciplinary team optimising patient pathway, coordinating acute stroke beds, taking part of research and carrying out projects to improve the stroke pathways. Shift work will be required, as well as training and education will be provided.

The post holder is a recognised expert in the specialty, responsible for the day to day management and coordination of the regional thrombectomy service.

Working with stroke lead and consultant nurse to deliver safe and effective pathway and repatriation to and from CUH

A clinical expert in assessing, developing and implementing specialist nursing care in hyperacute stroke, undertaking specialist nursing procedures and implementing evidenced base care

Ensure effective communication across the multi stakeholder groups locally and regionally.

Collaboratively develop standard operating procedures to ensure specialist advice and support of other staff and service users, the wider stroke team, within CUH and across the region.

Provide specialist education and training for staff as required.

Required to undertake clinical audit, service evaluation and participate research in own specialist area and present data within and outside CUH.
