The primary purpose of this position is: As an Air Reserve Technician (ART), accomplishes a variety of duties involving assisting in determining unit's readiness and capability to perform its peacetime/wartime mission, to support programs and systems which ensure reserve members are properly trained and equipped, to provide peacetime/wartime medical support, and to provide training to reserve members in the accomplishment of tasks set forth herein.

Duties:
1: Provides direct support to the senior ART in planning, directing, implementing, and controlling all elements of the medical unit on a day-to-day basis.
2: Provides support toward conducting studies, collecting data and identifying trends.
3: Assists in reviewing status of training and personnel assets for Status of Resource and Training System (SORTS) reporting/Annual Tour.
4: Responsible for tracking of unit funds and medica/non-medical supply expenditures and activities. Monitors compliance with medical requirements to ensure timely completion and medical qualification of assigned personnel.
5: Responsible for effective management and execution of unit personnel programs. Responsible for information management processes within the unit.

Performs and/or assists in operation and maintenance of recreational facilities. Establishes schedules of events as well as the rules and regulations to be observed. Types of duties include, but are not limited to, the following: tests water-skiing and boating equipment for safe operation; demonstrates safety and conservation techniques for campsites, water sports area, firing ranges, and hunting areas; demonstrates equipment and techniques of various outdoor activities such as camping, swimming, and boating; sets up gymnasiums and playing fields for sports events, tournaments, and practice games when such assignments require a practical knowledge of the rules and procedures of such activities (i.e., are not simply manual labor assignments); inspects outdoor recreation and sports facilities and equipment for security and general conditions; and schedules campsites, cabins, boats, and other outdoor recreation equipment and areas for use, with responsibility for seeing that they are vacated or returned in good order. Incumbent performs the following: drives one or more types of motor vehicles to include passenger vehicle, passenger van, pickup trucks towing travel and equipment trailers, and water/snow recreational motor vehicles based on specific assignments and schedules. Major Duties:

This position provides oversight for a variety of software programs integral to the overall administration, equipment packages, and operations of medical service. Collects physical and data security needs for the service areas. It also is the point of contact for OI&T for information technology initiative for hardware and software needs for the service.

Controls critical applications, (i.e. Clinical Procedures (CP), Home Oxygen, Oncology/OncoTrax, and Clinical Case Registries). Reviews all software upgrades for medical service programs within VISTA. Provides training and troubleshooting for clinical and administrative staff regarding use of these programs and any upgrades.

Responsible for the coordination and training for service staff in clinical and functional areas for various information technology VISTA packages, e.g.; Consult Tracking; PCE (Patient Care Encounter and Visit Tracking); ACRP (Ambulatory Care Reporting); TIU (Text Integration Utilities); and additional VISTA programs as added.

Test, debug and maintain software applications that meet functional requirements.

Train employees, identify inconsistencies, discussions with management of capabilities of computer software feasibly toward meeting their objectives, validating new programs and options.

DUTIES:

1. Reviews, analyzes and evaluates any aspect of retirement cases to ascertain the proper law, rule or regulation applicable (10 U.S.C., Sections 8911 and 8914 for active duty, Section 12731 for Reserve retirements including reduced retired pay age eligibility and issuance of the legally binding written notification of eligibility for Reserve retired pay, and Section 12741 for choice/conversion between active duty and Reserve retirements, DoD Instructions, Air Force Instructions and the Joint Travel Regulation) and required course(s) of action based on nature of the case.
2. Provides advisory, technical assistance, procedural guidance, and recommendations regarding retirement applications and inquiries.
3. Applies in-depth knowledge and understanding to use, manipulate, and apply various functions of the Military Personnel Data System (MilPDS) and Defense Finance and Accounting Service-Cleveland (DFAS-CL) pay system in order to input transactions and analyze output products used to control, assess, evaluate, track, approve/disapprove, and communicate transaction status information as relates to the total retirement process.
4. Maintains a database as required for all retirements and case files of other processes pertaining to retirements that require processing beyond those approvable without intervention in software systems, such as, but not limited to, cases forwarded to the various offices within SAF, as requiring waiver or exceptions to policy, cases of personnel placed on medical or admin hold, and cases of nonstandard or unusual situations.

• Transcribe specialized medical dictation for the Laboratory covering a wide range of medical specialties to complete accurate and medically acceptable physician reports, laboratory reports and patient records.
• Analyze dictation for accuracy and meaning, and edits medical/other inconsistencies in dictation to ensure that information and terminology is transcribed accurately.
• Prepare medical documents for validation by the professional staff.
• Assist with accessioning and shipping specimens.
• Prepare, assemble, distribute and/or file correspondence, statistical documents, letters of inquiry, policy letters, one time and/or recurring reports (Requests for Consultation, etc.) and obtains required signatures, as necessary.
• Use varied and advanced functions of word processing software to create, format, modify, edit, and print a variety of letters, reports, memos, and other textual documents.
