Energy Aspects currently have an exciting opportunity available for a Data Analyst-Intern to join the Research team, based out of our Kolkata office, dedicated to supporting our Macro research team.
The role will play a central role in the build-out of our global election prediction models. The role will involve the buildout of datasets such as collation of project data to enhance our forecasting capability, to helping design dashboards and develop models. You will be required to quickly take on an array of responsibilities and will work closely with analysts in the London office.
The role will work alongside the Macro team in London to develop their career in either a research or technical/data direction while building a specialist understanding of political modelling and election prediction.
You will work with the Macro team to ensure data is collected, collated, and maintained to very high standards.
Duties
- Contribute to the development of a Macro product for our clients.
- Manage and find data necessary to improve our election prediction capacity.
- Utilize data monitoring to study election betting odds, polling data, demographic data, and economic data.
- Ensure data are collected, collated, and updated to the level of detail and cadence required by our research desks
- Understand how data is used and applied by our research teams to ensure data integrity beyond technical correctness
- Utilize data quality monitoring and reporting processes to guarantee data integrity, working to proactively resolve any issues quickly
RequirementsÂ
- Studying for a degree in a quantitative subject such as economics or engineering
- Excellent time management skills, ability to prioritize and deliver to pre-agreed timeframes
- Basic understanding of statistical modelling
- Excellent attention to detail
- Proficient use of Excel for collating and presenting data
- Ability to learn new concepts quickly, apply a critical thinking approach to tackling large scale challenges
- Excellent communication skills
- Experience working across time zones, primarily London, in a cross-functional role within a global company
Desirable skills
- Knowledge of Python for data collection, transformation, and database interaction
- Knowledge of modelling, particularly machine learning
- Interest in elections or politics
