What will I do in this position if hired?

In this position, you will as a Security Specialist (Access & Credentialing)is responsible for the operation of security functions within the Identification and Access office and controlling the visitor access and movement on the facility. Typical assignments include:

• Controlling, preparing, and issuing identification badges, cards, passes, and decals that allow access.
• Ensuring National Crime Information Center (NCIC) checks are performed and verifying clearance levels of employees and visitors through the use of security databases with knowledge of fingerprinting techniques to submit for processing of contractors and federal employees.
• Following standard operating procedures for proper packing, labeling, securing, and tracking of classified documents while maintaining a variety of files, control registers, and records.
• Assisting in the maintenance and troubleshooting of security databases to provide information and assistance to staff on personnel security polices and related matters.

This position requires the following conditions of employment to be met while encumbered:

• Maintain access and rights to assigned classified communications systems.
• Complete Derivative Classification training during in-processing and must recertify every two years.

This is a Maintenance Workforce Development Program (MWDP) Position. What will I do in this position if hired?

In this position, you will serve as a Supervisory Firefighter (Assistant Fire Chief) responsible providing technical inspections of structures, conducting fire safety classes, and assisting with the development of emergency response plans and maintenance of a state of readiness to respond to all types of emergencies including fire drills and performance tests. Typical assignments include:

• Supervising operational staff and first response personnel ensuring department can provide emergency services support 24/7, in accordance with internal and external established standards and policies.
• Managing, planning, organizing, coordinating and evaluating daily staffing requirements to ensure adequate personnel are assigned to each apparatus and applicable shift.
• Responding to emergency incidents as necessary and/or required and may be required to assume command of the incident or provide command support for senior level chief officers (operations section, safety officer, etc.).

Compiles statistical data and analyzes NAS technical data and utilizing this data to recommend changes to the NAS maintenance program to improve safety and/or efficiency. Initiates, develops, reviews, and presents materials to improve the quality of service provided by Technical Operations. Develops the national FAA policies related to the NAS Technical Evaluation Program (NASTEP) and other internal quality control (QC) or internal compliance verification (ICV) programs that may affect the workload of BUEs and lead to managerial responses to bargaining unit actions.

Applies experience and expert knowledge of program management principles and processes to coordinate and organize the Technical Operations Maintenance Program and Quality Control functions as they relate to evaluation of National Airspace System (NAS) facilities, systems, and services. Possesses an understanding of new technologies and methodologies, to perform critical tasks requiring the development of new concepts, systems, or innovative approaches. Monitors national compliance with FAA policies and procedures relating to Technical Operations' operations, maintenance, and certification programs.

Develops national FAA policy as it relates to quality control, and specifically the NASTEP program. Major duties include but are not limited to:

• Provide administrative oversight of the Personnel Management program for the service line.
• Monitor the utilization of authorized positions and identifying personnel needs in response to changes in program goals and objectives, budgetary constraints, and/or regulatory mandates.
• Develop proposals for new employees when existing staff are insufficient.
• Serve as a liaison to each of the three distinct unions representing employees at the facility.

The major duties of this position include:

• Performs a wide range of duties related to planning and functions as a planning project specialist involved in the preparation of a variety of planning projects and studies and related cultural resource and environmental documents.
• Provides technical advice to other project managers and planning team members on historic preservation and cultural resource planning and/or outdoor recreation planning, problem solving, public involvement, and historic preservation and environmental compliance.
