Job Description

We are looking for a procurement manager to lead the development and delivery of the Council’s Procurement Team and to ensure that the Council’s procurement of goods and services delivers best value.

Working in Midlothian presents an exciting opportunity for the right candidate to take us forward in our desire to be a high performing , citizen focussed and modern local authority. As the fastest growing local authority in Scotland, the Procurement Manager will promote a culture of collaboration, co-operation, partnership, innovation and empowerment to support the re-imagining of future service delivery. Working in partnership with elected members and the Council’s leadership team, you will have responsibility for developing and implementing the Procurement Strategy and supporting the procurement of a range of innovative capital projects.

KNOWLEDGE:

The jobholder must have a degree level qualification and be a member of the Chartered Institute of Purchasing. S/he must demonstrate substantial experience of managing procurement and developing arrangements including policy development and corporate level negotiations.

(In exceptional circumstances membership of the CIP with substantial and extensive relevant experience at a senior level leading procurement strategies would be an acceptable alternative to the degree level qualification for appointment, but the jobholder would be expected to achieve a degree level qualification within a specified period).

Ideally the jobholder will have experience of offering professional procurement advice at an executive level and a proven track record of initiating, managing and delivering major change.

To be competent in the post requires the jobholder to develop an understanding of the Councils Strategic aims, the Councils performance criteria, procurement objectives and service demands and be able to respond to government consultation on procurement and identify the impact of new procurement legislation and regulation.

What will you be doing?

Your journey will begin in a mortgage advice cohort, giving you all the tools you need alongside your own experiences to apply your mortgage knowledge, along with our policy and procedures to ensure your customer receives the best advice for their circumstances.

Our mortgage advisors are there to provide expert advice and a first-class service to our members. This includes advising on purchases, remortgages, additional borrowing, and post contract variations, while ensuring your advice and recommendations are compliant. You will be the main point of contact with your customer throughout theirmortgage journey.

After completing a full fact-find conversation, enabling you to fully assess the customer’s needs and make an appropriate recommendation around mortgage product, term, and repayment type. You would then document this accurately to show the customers needs have been met.

During your conversation with the customer, you will be highlighting the importance of protection (Life Insurance and Critical Illness Cover) to establish any gaps or needs the customer may have. Our ethos is to ensure our customers are protected both now and in the future from life events that could impact them or their families.

What do we need from you?

• You must hold the relevant qualification to give mortgage advice such as CF1 & CF6 or CeMAP 1,2 &3

• Have the ability and experience to communicate clearly and comprehensively, making complex and confusing information understandable to anyone, while applying empathy and human touch to your conversations.

• You must be able to ask the right question at the right time to gain a firm understanding of the customers’ needs. From this, you will provide robust and suitable mortgage advice. You will not be afraid to challenge where needed.

• We are excited to grow our direct lending business; therefore, we need brave and innovative people to drive this forward and be initiative-taking in seeking opportunities.

• You must have sound market knowledge and the ability to adapt your conversations in an ever-changing market.

In this role you’re a real organiser, who loves leading and motivating your team. As Food and Beverage Manager your role involves taking responsibility for ensuring the smooth running of the day to day operations of the hotel.

You will also be required to work closely with all department managers in people management, finance and budgeting, sales and revenue management. You will be required to manage the hotel in the absence of the Deputy General Manager. You will be expected to ensure that our guests receive amazing hospitality at all times, that all staff are able to deliver service exceeding guest expectations and enhancing the guest journey at every opportunity.

You will have previous experience in management with a sound knowledge of food and drink in a similar sized property. Food and Beverage Managers must have excellent communication skills, be a team player and enjoy a hands-on role. You must have passion for hospitality and deliver service with a smile.
